how to settle your bills at the ROR

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I found an old thread saying that Chandlyn accepts travelers checks, and Michael accepts CC.

Now I know that Michael no longer accepts cards- but does accept Travelers checks, as he said in his email to me. But can you still pay chandlyn with travelers checks? Does this also apply to Tai Flora and the steel drum band?

Thanks guys.

Hi I know Tai Flora emailed Chandlyn to confirm I was getting my bouquet from them, and would they collect the payment from me, so I assume she will be paid for everything. Are you just bringing US$ or a combination of both J$ and US?

We were planning to bring our debit cards with us so we can take money out of the ATMs but you only get J$

I thought it would be a better exchange rate taking money out when we're there. What are your views?

I was only going to take US$, but get near as I can the right amount of travellers cheques to pay Chandlyn and Michael. Don't want to carry that much cash around!! Also not sure about charges for using your card in the ATM. Someone on here said that the nearest exchange is in town, so maybe we'll have to pop down there for more. Hopefully won't need alot anyway - its AI for god's sake ha ha

You planning on doing any excursions?

From what I have read on here, I would not rely on the ATM at the resort. I think sometimes it is out of money and other times, it does not work altogether. If you plan on bringing travelers checks, I would just make sure that they are in smaller denominations since any change that you receive would probably be in Jamaican Dollars.

When you pay Chandlyn, you'll be paying for everything wedding related, including Tai Flora & the steel drum band. I would think that she still accepts travelers checks but I would confirm with her just to be safe.

As you already know, you'll be paying Michael separately for his services.

I didn't have any experience using an ATM at ROR & don't even remember seeing it, but then again, I wasn't looking for it. I agree that I don't think I'd rely on that being available either. You wouldn't want to rely on it & then find that its out of service or something. KWIM?

Hi yeah our plan is to pay for everything with travellers cheques as well but I heard its good to have a few extra dollars for tipping. We might have to go down to the town to use the ATM but we'll have to see, it would be nice to see a bit of the local area & maybe do a couple of excursions. Unfortunately we'll have to see what we can afford but mind you, those 2 weeks are going to fly by! What with our wedding on the Friday & yours on the following Wednesday, remember we'll have to allow the day's after the weddings, we'll be in a fragile state (maybe) & of course we're going back on the Tuesday before you so we'll see.
Yeah sure unless we go outside resort, it won't cost us a penny!

We payed Chandlyn in travellers checks. I also payed the salon on travellers checks. If you use travellers checks at the salon, they require a picture ID. I didn't know this, and I went for my appointment, I had to walk all the way across the resort to get my ID to pay.

Chandlyn does accept a credit card. Keep in mind that most credit card companies charge a fee for using the credit card in a different country.

We used a credit card to pay Chandlyn ( band... flowers etc.) and paid Photoshop with cash

There was no extra charge on my credit card...

but I did call Visa before I left to let them know i would be using it out of the country... can't hurt:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
