I bought the flowers at Hobby Lobby. They came like 7 to a stem. I just cut each one off and hot glued it to the handle. Then on top of that I hot glued one end of the ribbon and let it dry. Then I just started wrapping around the handle and hot glued the end (on the backside of the fan)...wow thats a lot harder to explain! I have to make 6 more so I will take pics as I go.

I pretty much did the same thing. Bought flowers from Micheals. Cut off each bud & then attached it to the handle by bending the wire around the handle. You have to do this carefully because you don't want the wire to come thru the ribbon once you start wrapping.

I then used glue dots to secure the ribbon as I started wrapping it around the handle. Once I got it how I wanted, I cut the end of the ribbon & then tucked it under the last wrapped part & then used another glue dot to secure that.

I used the smallest size glue dots & it worked very well. I do like the hot glue idea-seems it may have been easier!

I think there's a pic of the finished product in the link to my planning thread in my siggy.

I used hot glue for mine. I hot glued all the flowers on first. Then wrapped the handles with ribbon. I used hot glue when I started wrapping and ended with hot glue. I just packed all 36 in my suitcase by stacking them on top of each other. I'm taking my hot glue gun with me just in case any flowers come off during travel.

I have seen the raffia fans before and they are supposed to be flexible at the beginning. I did get confused when I saw the different sizes they have on-line. Christina how big are yours? I saw the different decorated raffia fans people on BDW forum have done and they look absolutely beautiful. I agree with the rest of the gals, ribbon those bad boys before you go. :)

Trust me, I am totally not crafty either. The hardest part was figuring out how to start. Once you start the process & figure out what works best for you, you'll be fine!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
