Welcome to the forum, Thanda. I'm using Maui Wedding Planners, so far I am very happy. I check into the Hyatt and due to the size of my party (12pp) I decided not to use them. I do highly recommend them as their WC was very nice, answered all of my questions and responded to my emails pretty fast. The Ritz was out of my price range and I think the four seasons is located in south maui. What ever you decide I HIGHLY recommend having a WC to help you out. Good Luck!

Hi Thanda! I am also getting married in Maui but in Oct of this year. I had no idea where to start as we had never been to Maui so we have completely relied on the internet. Sounds scary but I think everything will all work out because we have no expectations and who could complain when they're in Maui!!!

How many people do you expect to attend your wedding? Are you looking for formal, quick, relaxed, convenient? All of these things played a huge part in our location choice, and we finally decided on the Olowalu Plantation (even though I fell in love with it when I first looked at it). Because we expect around 50 guests, it was hard to find a location to accommodate such a "large" party. We could have gone to one of the restaurants like Seawatch or resort like the Westin, but I figured people are travelling so far to come that we would rather have a ceremony and reception in one private location instead of a public one in multiple venues. Granted, it is a little more expensive, but the thought of people watching us that we didn't know was a bit difficult to fathom.

Also, we decided on a wedding planner, Blue Sky Weddings. Even though I like to do a lot of things myself, we figured it would be best to have someone local to arrange the necessities and keep everything in order.

Hope this helps!

Hi Thanda and welcome.

You're really lucky to have found BDW. You will find a lot of ideas whether you are a DIY type or just need inspiration. Personally, I started working with the Four Seasons and really enjoyed my experience with their WC. In the end, I moved off hotel property due to budget and utilized a Lisa with Enchanted Weddings. She was referred to me by 3 Maui brides.

Enchanted Weddings of Maui - Welcome!

I gave her a long list of things I wanted and she came back with a few options for my every detail (i.e. flowers, cake, reception sites, music, centerpieces).

Have fun and good luck planning

Hi Girls!!

One thing to keep in mind when you're getting married at a resort is to check with them to make sure they allow outside WC. Many of them do, but some may have restrictions or have a preferred vendor list that they want you to choose from. So just ask that question early on before hiring on outside cooridnator so that you don't get stuck in the end.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
