Hello everyone,

congrats to everyone who's getting married and would like to introduce myself here. My fiance and I are getting married in about a year from now in Maui, Hawaii. We're in the beginning phase of the planning but already feel overwhelmed by the information received. I have so many questions I don't even know where to start but I do have a few questions top of my head.

All the resorts such as Four Seasons, Ritz, Hyatt, assign a wedding coordinator. Does it make sense to have another wedding planner of my own? What are their fees? Any recommendations of a wedding planner who resides in Maui is appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

Thanda

Congratulations Thanda! There are a lot of us who have used several different wedding planners in Maui. I think the majority of us were very pleased with their services. Several of us have review written, so I would suggest that you take a look around in those threads for some inspiration. :) We used A Paradise Dream Wedding & were so pleased, but there are so many other great options out there. If you come across one that interests you, just ask us (we may have some inside scoop for you). cheesy.gif

Welcome Thanda! I'm getting married in Maui this June. The coordinator I am using is Deanne of Precious Maui Weddings, Maui Weddings Hawaii Wedding Packages Hawaiian Weddings Planner

I am from a small town and got the recommendation from someone we know well. Thus far, Deanne has been awesome. She's taken care of so many things and even before we finalized using her services, she provided so much information, quotes, tips, etc. She's always gotten back to me in a timely manner with answers to questions and such. Actually, we originally had emailed 3 others as well as Deanne and she was the only one who responded!

I'm not sure if another planner would be necessary if you go through a resort. I imagine not, but again, I really don't know. We're getting married at the Seawatch Restaurant. They, too, have a coordinator on site, but I have found it much easier to work with Deanne as we are having the reception at a different location.

I, too, was very overwhelmed with all the different options, but I promise, it will get easier! It just takes time to figure things out. You'll find a lot of info and assistance on this forum!!

Congratulations and happy planning!

Welcome to the forum! Having a coordinator of your own is great! But, must fit your budget to make sense. You may want to discuss the role of the resort's coordinator and how much they will take care of for you - and how many of the services the resort is responsible for providing. Typically, your own coordinator will be in contact with all your vendors prior to the wedding to make sure everyone is on the same page - they'll also make sure the day flows well, and that the reception doesn't have any akward lulls.

Good luck with your planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
