Reserving your wedding date at Dreams

Hello everyone,

My fiance and I are looking into reserving our wedding date at the Dreams Resort in Los Cabos and asked the wedding coordinator (Yesica) how to reserve the date. She sent us an "Authorization Form" to allow the resort to charge our credit card for the deposit. We are looking into the Ultimate wedding package. The Authorization Form did not mention the date we were reserving and it did not have any specific information regarding what the deposit was for.

The form seems a little suspiscous to us. We assumed it would have date we wanted to reserve and contain a contract of sorts. The deposit was also non-refundable after 5 weeks. We are looking to get married in April of 2010 so we were hoping the deposit would be refundable for at least 3 months. Since we dont know hotel or airline prices until about 10 months prior to the wedding.

Anyone who has reserved their date at Dreams can you please inform us of how you went about it and what you received from the Resort.

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I had my TA, Tammy (host) from this forum, confirm my wedding date with dreams for me as she negotiated my room block contract, then the Dreams wedding coordinator contacted me and I sent her a $500 deposit for the ultimate package,

If I remember correctly we could do a wire transfer or send a check to thier bank holding (we sent a check to thier bank).

Then I had to send a seperate deposit for my room block to the travel agency via a credit card auth form paid to the travel agency.

I was doing this about 12 months out.

As for the refundable deposit sorry I am not much help there.

I did the exact same thing as Erika, however there was a confimation and agreement sheet. The last page of it was a page that I had to sign that said that I had read and agreed to the confirmation sheet that I sent in with my check.

My deposit was non refundable after April 6, 2009. The contract was written on December 6th for a wedding on July 24th. I don't know if that will help with your question on the deposit, but those were mine....

Hopefully this helps - best of luck to you!

  • 2 weeks later...

Now I'm a bit concerned....

Our wedding is "booked" for May 28, 2009, and I have been corresponding with Yesica since August 2008. She has not mentioned a deposit at all. She has assured us that date is reserved for us by e-mail.

I have told her we wanted to do the Ultimate package, but have not received any information on the vendors we can use for flowers, video, etc.

We have already booked Juan Carlos for photos, so am not worried about that.

It seems that lately it's over a week to answer any of my e-mails, and sometimes I have to send it twice before she replies.

Should I be requesting a formal contract??

Does she provide vendor info after you put down a deposithuh.gif

OK I am a little worried too! My wedding is July 8, 2009, but I have only filled out a one page paper. There was no deposit required yet. I thought I had to put 500.00 down as soon as I booked, but she hasn't said anything. Actually I have not had any contact since November.

OMG I am really worried now.

our date was booked back in October 2008 for may 12, 2009 - yes - we did a $500 money transfer to the resort to book our date. THe contract we recieved outlined when our last date would be to back out (Dec 9, 200cool.gif and the final date we needed to have everything finalized by (April 9, 2009). From what i was told from Yarai, without the $500 deposit, she was only able to hold that date for me for 2 weeks while we decided which resort we wanted to book.

hmm we didn't order a package because we're planning everything separately so I don't know how much help this will be. But we didn't put down any deposit. Our guests booked their rooms with a TA, and the WC at Dreams reserved our reception time and restaurant etc... It was all over the phone and through email.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
