Riu Montego Bay (RMB) *Post wedding info and attachments*

The fees are for each separate area/ So if you want your chairs covered on the beach...Tai Floral needs RIU to bring our the nicer white chairs not the brown ones. Their covers don't fit. I believe they will bring these chairs out for you but Tailfloral charges to cover them..I know the sash is 2.50 by itself..so to cover may be like 7.00. then to have your chairs covered (those dreadful light blue chairs) you are gettin charged for that also.

We used the steel drum band at our wedding. I liked the ambiance it gave...my guests liked them. Honestly, to be perfectly honest, I barely noticed them in all of the excitement of the ceremony and craziness of the pictures. But, even given that, I would definitely do it again.

Oh yeah, let us know about the steel drum band!

If there was ever an occasion to have the steel drums, it would be a Jamaican wedding! I'm thinking about it too, (we have the free wedding booked, and think we'll just upgrade here and there to suit our fancies) and I think the steel drums are the perfect touch. Even if we don't hear them because of the excitement, I'm sure the guests will!

This thread rocks, thanks everyone. Not sure if this has been answered or not, but was wondering if there are any other locations at RMB other than Gazebo by the pool, gazebo on the beach, and some west beach area. I always wanted to get married in a gazebo in a garden. I want some privacy and don't want sand in my shoes!!! I've emailed the WC and nothing back about that. I would be willing to pay extra to get what i want. I've got about 50 + people coming.

There is no garden area at RMB..there's not even a spot that I can think of that could be adapted for that. The most private location is the west beach (you'd obviously have to deal with the sand!), then would be the plaza gazebo( no sand and a little more formal) , and then the beach gazebo (not very private at all).

I agree that there really isn't much of garden area at the RMB. The only place I can think of is the grassy area over by the tennis courts. There are some of the room buildings over that way, but it would be relatively private, but I'm not sure it would work. And, there is no gazebo. But, you could possibly get an arch through Tia Flora.

Girls who have been to RMB - I would appreciate others weighing in on the tennis court area.

One concern (besides that it is not a typical wedding location) I can think of is the fact that I don't think the ground was very level, but I didn't go over that way when we got married in June...so I'm trying to remember from our site visit in January.

Thanks guys, that is what I figured. I was in contact with the folks at tropical weddings jamaica and was thinking about going there for the actual ceremony, then back to RMB for the dinner and dancing. But it's 20 min. away, so there would be a cost to get everyone over there, plus their smallest package is over $1000, which duplicates the package the RMB offers. I have an email out to Sherika to see if anyone else has done this. I'm probably making this more difficult than need be, but when you want to marry in a private garden gazebo than that's what you want! don't make me get all bridzilla! LOL smile120.gif

I can see that the space by the tennis courts could work I guess. We had a room in the building facing the tennis courts for the first night we were there and we actually asked to change rooms since it really wasn't very pretty at all. It has a big green cement wall and then the fencing for the tennis courts in the background. It was definately more private though except for the people playing tennis. It is an option though if you're really looking for private.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
