Rafia fans or program fans??

Recommended Posts

ok i didnt do either, but from what i've read here i why i would choose the cardstock program fans:

~rafia fans take a lot of packing space

~they take time to put together (ribbon, etc)

~they would cost more

paper fans, you print, cut, and stick a brad thingy through the corner and you're done!

plus the cost of cardstock is much less expensive, and they will pack much lighter and take up less space.

I'm not sure I necessarily agree with the cheaper portion of Abbie's e-mail, but they definitely are easier to pack! I did the raffia fans. I did love them, but I spent a lot of time wrapping ribbon around the handles and then attaching my programs to them... and then people only used them to block the sun, not to fan off...

Oh, Abbie you were reading my mind.

I have been thinking the same thing over for my wedding. I do love the look of the raffia fans in photos and think it's beautiful.

But ultimately am leaning towards just using card stock as I am not sure the raffia fans would be used again by my guests, cost, and easy of packing.

But it may just come down to cost.

Wedding fans seem to be a hot trend for spring, summer and beach weddings.

They can also serve as a wedding favor or wedding souvenir.

You can also use them as placecard holders on the tables.

Personalised fans are also available!

I didn't do either because :

- I need a real program because of all the French/English stuff going on in my ceremony. So not fitting on a fan.

- I figured the raffia fans not only would take place to pack and time to put up, but also would be kind of inconvenient to hold during the cocktail...

So I went for nice silk fans from efavormart, that I received in no time and are absolutely great !

If you want to decide between paper and raffia, I would vote paper, for the convenience of them. My DH is against thinking "convenience" but I can't help it ! lol

i'm doing raffia fans for two reasons: 1) it's SO windy where my ceremony is going to be that fans are totally unnecessary there. if i can get program info together, i will do a program, but it won't be a fan. 2) i'm using the raffia fans for the reception, where it's far less windy and people will be getting all hot and sweaty from dancing.

i do agree with the other girls that paper fans or folding fans will be lighter and easier to pack tho!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
