We are going from the 7-15th. MOst of our guests (about 30) will be there for that whole week too. We are doing the Renewal of the Vows ceremony. It seems to be a hassle to get married there so we are doing it before the wedding and not telling any of our guests. What they don't know won't hurt them. :-) ( and it's cheaper too but you basically get all the same stuff) I'll keep my eye out for your friend request on facebook.

We are going to arrive on the 10th and leave on the 19th but our guests will only be there from the 11-15. I tried to look you up on face book but could not find you. Try to see if you can find my name Leigh Ann Davidson mobile Al, University of Louisiana. So tell me more about the catamaran cost and how many people fit. I think that is a great way to spend an afternoon! The guys are going to play golf so that could be a fun girls adventure. We are also doing the renewal of vows for the same reason. Can't wait to hear back from you!

I think I found you on FB and sent a friend request.

Well, we wanted to do something as a thank you for the guests and thought a booze type cruise on a catamaran would be fun. This one place- Fat Cat was super awesome, quick response and really reasonable. I believe it's about $1700 for 30-40 people and $1500 for less than 30. But it's a whole afternoon, booze, some food and a crew. I'll send you their info if you would like? Our guys are golfing a few times as well and the morning of the ceremony. We joke that my fiance' may "call it in" if he's still on the course when the wedding starts. They have a great spa there and I think we are going to do the girl spa day at some point. I just started wedding dress shopping and realized that if you have to order you are going to have to pay express to get it here in time. UGH.

We aren't changing the script/vows but I knew before it was possible. I didn't realize they changed the policy. Maybe once you find out whose performing you can speak to them and see if they will work with you. I'm not sure about the other Leigh Ann. :-)

BTW- if anyone can recommend a Steel Drum band or Mariachi Band I would appreciate. I got one quote and it was for a Mariachi band...$400 for 45 mins. Ouch.

I'm getting married there on May 23!! I've been in contact with the hotel for about a year now. I've had so many communication issues with the changing of the staff. Have you?? Are you doing a sand unity? Where does everyone get the colored sand?? I have lots of questions, but I'll wait for your reply on these first!

be sure to check out the catalonia thread. just do a search for "catalonia riviera maya" and you'll find lots of info.

they are not responsive before the wedding. they do most of the planning when you get there. but they really do a great job.

you can get most of your answers here & not have to deal with communicating with the coordinators there. most of the hotel wedding coordinators are overworked & underpaid.

are you doing the legal ceremony? you can not change the script if its the legal ceremony. possibly this was what they were saying.

I would be really upset if they no longer let you use your own script. it was so important to us to have it personalized. the standard script they used did not suite us at all.

maybe you could have a family member or friend officiate instead. it's elena the hotel WC that normally officiates the ceremony.

if you are doing the legal ceremony it has to follow the standard script. But, there is the option of doing the legal stuff with the judge earlier in the day & then having the cermeony how you want it. We just made it easier & got married in NC before we flew down there.

BTW, I think it would be really helpful if everyone posted the useful catalonia info in the catalonia thread I started. That way everything is in one place.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
