Nervous about weather

Recommended Posts

I was just on the Trip Advisor forums and came across a posting about the recent weather in Jamaica: Ocho Rios Forum: Last week's bad weather sad.gif - TripAdvisor

Now I'm really nervous. I picked Feb because it had the least chance of rain and wasn't too hot. I still have 14 days before we leave...but this isn't what I wanted to see. It snowed here in Seattle recently and I am so looking forward to sunshine!! frown.gif

I was there for that wonderful weather last week! My wedding day was filled with rain, wind, but still great memories. If I learned anything it's that you can't control the weather so checking constantly will only stress you out. Whatever happens on your day with the weather doesn't matter as it will still be your special day!

I went in May which is supposed to be the rainy month. It was overcast the first day and I was very disappointed but waking the third morning to bright sunshine made me forget the first day. The sun reflected off the water and made it an amazing shade of blue so every morning the first thing I did was look outside to see the water. Even in the "rainy season" we saw very little rain. We had a small down pour the second day and it started to rain (more of a sprinke) just as I was walking out of the spa after having my hair down before my wedding. It was little overcast during our wedding which kinda sucks but at least it was not raining and I came home married with amazing memories!

We picked February because it's suppose to be past the rainy season and cooler temps. I didn't want to be sweating on my wedding day. Like I said before, you cannot control the weather and it doesn't matter how it usually is because that can change in a flash. We were suppose to have sunny, high 70s - low 80s, light breeze. Instead we had strong wind, pouring rain, and temps in the low 70s. Regardless, it's Jamaica, it will be humid. If the sun would have been out we would have been roasting even with 70 degree temps.

My parents went to the Riu the first week of April last year and they had 7 days of sun, I guess it does rain a bit in the afternoon in Ocho Rios but it does not last long. We are going the first week of April and I am not concerned about the weather at all. We will still get married and have a wonderful day, now mind you a little sun would make it just perfect :):)

I had overcast for my wedding day but it was actually better as I wasn't too hot. With the overcast, its still fairly warm just not sunny. Ok for taking pictures too.

We had 4 days of rain in our second week (jan25-31) with all the rain coming towards the beginning of the week.

i've been to Jamaica twice...once in April to Runaway Bay and once in July to Negril. When we went in April the weather was gorgeous...not a drop of rain...in the 80's everyday with a lovely breeze. In July, which is considered the rainy season, it rained everyday for a little while...usually around 2 or 3 for about a half hour-45 min. It never rained all day. When I spoke to the WC in RIU Negril she said that if you are there during the "rainy season" the earlier time slots are better for the ceremony (less chance of rain)...that is why we chose the 12 o'clock time slot...our wedding is July 11

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
