These look a great idea - but are they safe? Putting a candle inside a paperbag seems a bit of a worry to me!! Are they special bags? Or am I just an over-cautious bride!?

I was worried about that too but I guess people do it all the time . . . . It's one of the standard things my venue does. The sand in the bag is supposed to keep it safe. If you are worried though you could use battery operated or LED tea lights like these:

Sarah, they look great! They will be so beautiful on the beach! I know Michaels has the pink bags and sometimes they have a light orange too. Good luck, can't wait to see them all done!

Here are my first try. I think the white bags look better than the brown. Sorry the quality of the pictures my phone is on the fritz so I used my phone!

Ok girls...first attempt LOL!! Remember I am using our beach cookie cutters as templates...the blue bag is mine (oh and the blobby thing is supposed to be a starfish...still working on getting that exact-o-knife working how it should!) - my FI's is the yellow bag. Admittedly, much nicer than mine. Nothing like a Saturday afternoon craft competition to keep things fresh!
We had to take them to the bathroom since it's the darkest place in our house at the moment. They actually look really cool and I hope the rest turn out better than our trial ones.

These look great.... Something easy to take down to your DW that will add alot to the decor!
