Wedding Bands....How much.

Recommended Posts

These are Canadian prices, just as a headsup:

My ring from Birks is $2400ish and my Fiance's Tungsten ring is about $800. His tungsten ring is the absolute top of the line as far as tungsten rings go, and I know a lot of people don't even spend half as much (they go as low as $100). My ring has about 30 small diamonds on it, and it's platinum, so it's probably fairly high end (Birks is also a fairly high end jewelry store I think). I was originally going to get the plain platinum band that was about $1000, but my fiance upgraded me b/c he thought it was boring! My engagement ring is very simple however, and my fiance chose to get me a flawless half carat solitaire instead of something bigger and more elaborate (it's more my style) so in my case it was more important to get a nice band b/c the engagement ring won't be all people see.

TBH, I don't think cost is super relevant, just get something that you would be happy to wear every single day of your life. To me it makes sense to spend more on a band than you did on your dress (50 yrs vs 1 day) but it's also not worth going into debt over. I think there's a rule somewhere about how much of your total wedding budget you should spend, but I can't remember it :S

Unfortunately, my band is going to be $2500, because it is really the only one that looks good with my ring (it's the same designer, it's made to match it). I'm thinking about not getting a band at all, because I think the ring itself is just stunning... I know it's not traditional, but that's a lot for a band!!

As for our wedding bands... we bought them through a premier jeweler in our area because that is where my diamond came from. The prices are higher than normal but I think the quality and all around service they offer goes along with the reason in choosing my diamond and bands...

My DH's band is Platinum with diamonds spaced through out the band. It is also a large band at 8cm wide. His band can not be resized you had to order to fit. With that being said as he picked it out just for him... it was 3300 on sale from 3800. YIKES I know.. but its what he wanted.

Now with mine ... it's pretty straight forward normal. I was going to go with a plain platinum band but new since my diamond has 3 channel set diamonds on each side I would prob have to upgrade my choice. I did with a band that has channel set diamonds that start and end to match my engagement ring exactly, even though they are different vendors. My band was 1200.

Again mine are in Platinum.. sooo it's a totally different animal if you are looking at gold for pricing issues.

Wow, I feel cheap. I'm not big on the two ring look and my engagement ring came with a simple band, so I'm going to use that and get them sodered together. I looked at some other rings, but felt they took away from my E-ring.

FI wanted a simple white gold band. I believe the size is 6mm. Anyway, it's usually $295, cash price was $200 (the jeweler is a family friend).

So to answer your question, we spent a total of $200 and we're both super happy. I never thought we'd get away with spending so little!

Don't feel bad, cuz maybe I'm your cheap chocolate cousin.

I got his dream ring (he specifically wanted one with the sign of the cross involved in the design, in white gold) for under $200. I'm not sure what he paid for mine, but its my dream ring (even though like any woman on earth, I'll always be open to upgrading the diamond) and I am for SURE it was under a thousand. I'm not big on big name stores, as long as quality is there.

I dont' think you have to spend a lot of money to have beautiful wedding rings. Go into the experience knowing what you have in mind, and SHOP AROUND above all else. Unless it's a one of a kind design, chances are you can find it (or something extremely close to it) for a fair price.

I had my wedding band custom made by the same fellow that made my engagement ring that my FI commissioned him to do. My e-ring was $3,200 CAD, and my custom wedding band was $1,600. My FI's titanium band (which we got at Metalsmiths hehe) was $94. He's not big on wearing rings so there was no point in him spending a lot on something he's not very in to. Sadly, my dress cost as much as my ring. sad.gif lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
