What do you feed your dogs??

Is this a repeat thread?? I searched & didn't find anything but I'm not sure If I did it right. Here it goes......

Over the weekend I was in contact with the lady whom we adopted our now 9 month old Labradoodle Rusty. I just thought she would like to hear about how Rusty was doing. In fact, we made a play date for Sunday so that he could see his parents. Sunday came around and I had to cancel. I was up at 3am because Rusty was throwing up. He continued to get sick about 4 more times between 4am - 10am. I called her and cancelled our plans because although he was feeling better he still gets motion sickness in the car & I thought that was too much for him. Anyway as I explained what was going on to her she started drilling me on what I feed him.huh.gif When I told her she said my choice of food for him was making him sick. --Okay lady I've been feeding him this since we adopted him & he's been fine. He loves his food! And it's not cheap!!

So I have not been able to stop thinking about this (I know I'm not a bad mommy!!) and I am wondering, what are you feeding your dogs?

Well if he has been eating it all this time...I can't see why it would affect him like that now.

Since he is a young puppy, is it possible he ate something else he shouldn't have? Those things def happen! My dog is 2 and he still picks things up off the ground and starts chomping away... But as a puppy he was much worse.

Another thing could be, is he eating too fast? If he's eating too fast and not really chewing, just swallowing, the food will sit in his stomach and make him sick.

My Dog can only eat large Breed dog food because of that reason. If we buy the regular size food, he will not even chew it and throw it all up.

You will have everyone telling you what the "best" dog food is and what is oh so horrible, but I think you need to go with what your dogs likes. And what fits your budget as well.

My Dog is on Science Diet lamb & Rice Large breed. But we went through all kinds of different food, until we found this one. Plus as an added bonus to me, he has food allergies and this food doesn't affect him too much as far as his allergies go.

Good luck with your puppy, and if he keeps throwing up, I would just make a Vet appt just to get to the bottom of it :-)

I was about to suggest the same thing- maybe the dog is eating too fast? We use to have to portion control our dog's food when he was a puppy because he would eat so much, so fast, he would vomit.

Because we have a great dane and he's very expensive to feed, our vet suggested we use the Costco brand food because it's half the price of big-name brands and it has the main ingredients that nutritious dog food should have. We were spending double the amount on a big name brand and turns out the main ingredient was corn which is obviously just a filler. We were told to make sure that the main ingredient in the food is always meat (chicken, lamb, whatever). Our dog has been very happy with that food since we switched.

Thanks for your suggestions ladies!

I honestly think that he ate something that he was not suppose to because he is all better now & he has a full appetite. I have to constantly watch him cuz he will try to eat anything he can put in his mouth.

I hope this is something he will grow out of!!!

I was just so offended by this crazy lady telling me that I was feeding him something terrible!

Yea..He will grow out of it for the most part, but as I said, my dog is 2 and still likes to just pick up whatever he feels like and put it in his mouth.

You can do some simple training things, like when he has something bad, teach him to drop it, and then give him one of his toys. We did that, but we weren't consistant, which is why although he's much better then he was as a pup, he still does it :-)

Just this morning I saw him messing with the cat and then all of a sudden he was chewing something, So I go chasing him around and here he had an inspection sticker from something (no idea what). the cat must have been playing with it and it took it from her..LOL And he is a 73lb, 2 y/o Lab. Somethings, you learn to live with!! LOL

Good luck though. I'm glad your pup is feeling better :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
