i also agree, just leave it uneven! You should only have people who are close to you in your wedding party. Asking the cousin is akward for her, as you are only asking to match numbers as you mentioned you are not close.
I would leave it the way it is, asking your friend whom you know will say yes.
Sorry to hear of your drama!

It sounds like everyone's pretty much unanimous and thinks we should do an uneven number. My FI didn't really like the idea, but he could've just been in a bad mood at the time when I brought it up. As far as walking down the aisle, I was thinking his brother, the best man, could walk their parents down the aisle first, and then every other groomsmen would have a bridesmaid to walk with. My mom is going to walk me down the aisle because my father passed away, otherwise the idea with having a groomsmen walk the mothers down would have worked great.

I agree with the other gals. You don't have to have an even number on each side. I'll have four bridesmaids and FH is only having his brother stand up with him because he feels like it's overkill to have anyone involved he isn't truly close to.

As for your FI's sister....leave it be. You can't guilt her into going and NO WAY should you ask her to reconsider in my opinion. A baby is a huge responsibility, and it's good that she at least admitted what a huge task it would be to pull off coming to the wedding now that she's going to be a mom, even if she did need to be reminded of it.

have you thought about having only 2 bridesmaids and having 2 groomsmen walking on either side of each bridesmaid. That way you have it match but it can be uneven at the same time. :-)

i wouldn't bother trying to make it even ... my fiance had 5 guys in the wedding party, and honestly i would have been perfectly happy with just my matron of honor (niece) and best friend, but it would have been 5 to 2. my fiance didn't want it to be uneven, so i added my two half sisters and his aunt to make it even. months later, it turns out none of his 3 brothers are likely to make it, and his best friend is definitely out. down to just a best man, he asked his half-brother to fill in. so now we're 5 to 2 again, but in the opposite direction, LOL.

long story short, you can't win! LOL ... anyway sounds like with all the family drama, her presence might hurt rather than help?

Also you don't necessarily have to have GM walk BM down. They could start the ceremony already up there, or walk down one at a time.
