Catholic wedding in Jamaica?

Recommended Posts

I think that Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay can also accomodate a Catholic wedding (as well as Jewish etc.) Check the brochure package on the wedding section of their site or give them a call.

It's probably not too late, as long as the church has that date open. Im guessing it's not very popular to get married in the church down there since most people are doing beach weddings! And you would have to complete pre-cana with your home parish asap, and then and get your priest forward all paperwork. PM me if you have any questions, I can tell you the exact steps I had to go thru.

Good luck!

Aaarrghhhh..I'm so torn...thanks for all the info about having a catholic wedding in Jamaica. I'll be sure to keep it in mind.

I'm Catholic but my FI is not...my dream has been to have a beach wedding but my parents dream of me having a nice, catholic wedding in church...and I'm the first in my family to get married and the second-oldest (I'm a younger twin..LOL). Not sure what to do, although it seems much simpler and more stress-free to have a beach wedding. What do you suggest?

I wish I can just have my beach wedding with a priest performing the ceremony but I know that's not possible...oh well, a girl can dream, right?

Are you decided that you're getting married in Jamaica? Cause there's a riu resort somewhere that has an open chapel overlooking the beach. I just looked it up and it's in Punta Cana in the DR. and I'm pretty sure that I read about a Sanadals resort that had the same thing when I was deciding on my resort.

Hope that helps!

Wow, that is a neat idea...I like the part about being able to marry in a chapel and still be overlooking the beach...unfortunately (or fortunately, depends on how you look at it..LOL) it looks as though we are pretty set on Jamaica and especially the Riu Ocho Rios...I wish the Riu had that option, though.

Thanks for the advice!

During my research I heard that Sandals resort in Montego Bay has a chapel on site that supposedly a Catholic priest would come to, but that is a couples only resort. Then I just recently found out that the Ritz Carlton in Montego Bay has a courtyard or garden area on the resort that has been approved by the Catholic church for ceremonies and the priest would come on site. I wish I would have known about this earlier, but the Ritz is pretty expensive.

Another option that we thought about was getting married in our home town church with just our immediate families present, then having a vow renewal on the beach in Jamaica, and the reception there, that way you kind of get the best of both worlds.

Thanks Krissy! I actually thought about that too but we're torn about whether we want our actual wedding to take place in our hometown or in Jamaica.

I checked out the Ritz Carlton...it looks really nice but it doesn't look to be an all-inclusive. You're right, though, it looks pretty expensive.

  • 4 weeks later...

I saw pictures of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Ocho Rios and I thought it was really great since it overlooks the sea...even if you don`t do a beach wedding, I thought it was still pretty neat to have a catholic wedding by the water.

How come Riu`s website claims they don`t do Catholic weddings in Jamaica...is it because they don't coordinate weddings off-site? I'm thinking doing the catholic wedding at the Our Lady of Fatima Church and then a reception at the Riu...I only hope Chandlyn can still help with the planning...

Hi Sherryl_Joy,

Have you had any luck with planning the catholic wedding at the Our Lady of Fatima Church and then a reception at the Riu? If so, please, please share any information you have with me.

Also, can you provide me with the contact info for the wedding coordinator that you are in touch with?

I would be the happiest person if they are able to accomodate this request.

I look forward to your response!

Thanks,

BB

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
