Two Dresses from Ebay

Recommended Posts

I found two dresses on ebay. Has anyone purchased a dress using ebay?

I like the idea of the shorter one for a beach wedding but the longer one is nice as well. Just wanted feedback from anyone who has had success (or not) when buying a dress from ebay.

Thanks!

Rita

I bought mine from ebay, but it was from a bridal shop that was selling a sample that was no longer going to be sold in the US, so I got a great deal on it.

A couple of girls have ordered from a dressmaker on ebay, I'm sure they'll chime in with they're experiences.

I was going to b/c I wanted an Alfred Angelo dress and I found a couple distributors on eBay so I knew exactly what dress I was going to get. I researched some by reading through their reviews, and one had just horrible reviews. There were a ton of brides complaining about lack of communication and their dresses not arriving in time - which sounded like too big of a nightmare to deal with. I found another distributor that had glowing reviews but she wouldn't mark it as a gift so I'd end up paying a lot in shipping and then add customs on to that. I found a woman here in Vic that runs a bridal shop out of her home. She is in direct contact with distributors so she just ordered me my dress and I didn't get dinged with any customs and shipping was super cheap. So I don't know how much help I can be b/c I never ended up ordering from eBay, but I do suggest you are aware of their shipping charges, and that you thoroughly go through their reviews.

I bought my dress from Ebay. It was a bridal shop sample and was really in pretty good condition. Only needed some minor repairs (buttons on the back) and was worth it at ony $70.

I saw a lot of nice dresses on ebay. The only sellers I was hesitant about buying from were the "made to size" dresses from sellers in China. Something about it just seemed sketchy, but I don't know, they could be great!

Thanks ladies,

I totally forgot about the duty charges. It is difficult being in Canada when you see all the great stuff in the US. I would love to order from some US sites, especially for the OOT items but the conversion and duty doesn't make it worth it. Someone on the forum should start this as a business for us Canadians!

I appreciate your comments. Not sure if I will order or not, the short dress was only $40.00, almost worth getting and checking it out!

thats kind of what I thought about ordering off of ebay, for the price I was going to pay, it wouldn't be a huge investment if I hated it.

Laura started a thread about the dress she got on ebay from one of the dressmakers in china, she hasn't posted pics of her in it yet, you might want to chat a little with her.

Also, if you search around on ebay you can find dresses being sold from bridal shops, or I saw some from brides that changed there mind or never wore there dresses and you can get a nice dress for not much money.

I also bought a sample dress from a bridal store in Northern CA. It has one loose sequin, but other than that, perfect! I knew it would fit because I tried the same dress on at a salon here.. I was soo close to paying $679, the cheapest I could find anywhere and ended up getting it for $225 including shipping.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
