I haven't even started looking!!

I don't want the shoes to overpower the dress, given that it is so light and 'beachy.' I imagine I might do more of a strappy heel, than something chunky. The shoes might take me a while so I should probably start looking soon, haha!

My wedding isn't for another year but I decided to start trying on some wedding dresses. I literally only tried on 7 dresses when I got to the Libby. I didn't love it on the rack but once I put it on I just loved it. I was with family and some friends and they all agreed, it was gorgeous. So I asked the lady helping me if I could buy the floor model (I figured I could save some $$ by doing this) and she went to find the manager to see how much they could sell it to me for. They came down from retail price of $978 to $800. I wasn't impressed so I asked if they could possibly go any lower. I mean, the dress was a floor model and some of the details were starting to see some wear, etc. So they came down to $775. I was ready to buy it right then and there when one of the people with me suggested I sleep on it.

The next day (a Sunday) I was about to head back to Chicago but first I wanted to stop at the wedding shop to buy my dress. I was ready and just couldn't be without it. Since I live in chicago i decided to purchase the dress in WI where it would be cheaper with taxes. Anyhow, I called the shop and asked the girl that answered to have the manager call me back. I wanted to let them know I'd be purchasing the dress (i was told to call before stopping in to purchase it). I never heard back from the manager. All day but we couldn't wait, we had to go back to Chicago.

So the next day I emailed a pic of the dress to my mom and she found the exact same dress on Ebay. The thing is it was in brand new condition, and one size smaller than the floor model I had tried on. Which was perfect! The floor model I tried on was just a touch too big for me. So I contacted the seller on ebay she confirmed it was indeed a true Maggie Sottero Libby and she told me she would sell the dress to me for $550.

So, there it is. I purchased the dress off ebay. The girl who sold it to me wound up getting a larger Libby dress - the one she sold was slightly to small for her so it worked out for me! I got it in the mail later that week and it's just lovely. It fits great, a few alterations will need to be done but nothing major. I'm so excited to be a Maggie bride!
good for you! Congrats!

OK, I think I'm going to do it. Every other gown I've tried on have not compared to Paigely. Every time I've tried on another gown, I've compared it to Paigely.

I think it's THE ONE smile159.gif

But with more than a year to go, am I too early or will this just give me 1 less thing to worry about so I can go on to choosing veil, shoes, jewellery, BM dresses...

I ordered Maggies Athena. I was wanting a dress so I could feel like a greek goddess, and one of my bridesmaids found Athena. i just looked at the tag and said no way, it was out of my price range, but my mother said to go ahead, and put it on. If it was the one she would pay the difference. and I fell in love! Hard! lol. there were tears and everything. Such a beautiful dress. It was ordered Feb 6th 2010 and it comes in this june. I start my fittings in sept. seems to far away. Cannont wait to get her back again.

Congrats on everyone elses dresses. they all seem so wonderful, and those with pictures they are all so pretty.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
