Well ladies, all is not COMPLETELY lost!  My awesome seamstress is able to repair my dress!  She will remove the front panel and replace it with a new piece of chiffon.  And my replacement tiara arrived with a pearl "apology" necklace, the tiara was in okay shape but a few of the stones had come loose and I had to fix them.  Nothing terrible this time thankfully!

Now the bad news... It's going to cost me $350 or more to fix my gown sad.gif  I can have the rip just tacked in place and it would only cost about $150, but I would still have those ruches!  If I was a super-skinny bride I may not care about having a wrinkly belly.  But there is enough emphasis on my belly already, I don't need that ruching to draw attention to it.  So, my $250 gown became a $300 gown which is now a $650+ gown... *sigh*... I need a drink!

But a very well-made $650 gown, awesome hand embroidery and unique colored accents. When it's done it will be worth every penny.

Offer the seamstress $300 and enjoy that drink!

Beautiful dress!! Who did you go with??

first off: i love this thread! I've been reading this thread from the first post til this page 331. Took me two days, but I did it. :)

I'm also thinking about getting a replica dress. I've tried on this Demetrios dress and totally loved it (I've tried about 15 dresses so far). Unfortunately, the Demetrios dress is $1400!! I cant afford that - since we're paying for our own wedding. So after reading this thread, i've decided to contact some of your recommendations for replicas.

1. Giannar bridal: very slow response, but dress quote was only $180

2. Babyonline via dhgate: fast response, dress quote: $230

3. wywedding via dhgate: very slow response, quote: $160

4. bigdaydress.com: fast response, quote: $331

now I'm just torn, since i dont know, whom i should contact. I do like the fast response and customer service at babyonline and bigdaydress. I read great reviews from bigdaydress on other forums. However, they are a big pricier for the dress. My second choice would have been giannar, but they respond so slow - I'm not sure if that will be improved, once i pay my deposit or not... who you would you recommened from your experience??

This is the dress i want, but i also wanted some beadings on top of the bust of the dress and two beaded lines going across the dress...similar to a pic someone posted earlier on the thread. 3170-012.jpgfront.jpg

I love both, so would be happy with either, so think I will make the decision based on which one may be easier for them to make.

Thoughts?

Hello Brides and Brides-to-be!

I really have enjoyed this thread. I am awaiting a dress that I ordered a remake of from an online company. Here's the thing, I'm not really a girly girl, but in this case I love the Poof! My FI, was looking over my shoulder when I was randomly looking at dresses and he absolutely LOVES this dress. Although I LOVED it too, I said I didn't like it and when he FINALLY left the room, I ordered it. Ever since I have been using a decoy pic of another dress to show him. He thinks I got the decoy. But I hope this dress will work out for me. I am really curvy and I hope they stick true to my measurements.

Here is the dress I am going after... I should have it by the 7th... I will re-post this pic and the actual too when it comes so that women who are into the ball gowns can have a reference too. I love the color in the pic, but I feared that it wouldn't be the same in actuality so I ordered it in white.

I think recognizes that people come in all shapes and sizes is really important, I understand overseas that they may not be "used" to the size range we know here but "Mutant" and "x-men" generation just seem hurtful!

LOL

To be fair, my dad is a very skinny chef who looks like a 40 yrs old man because of his diet, a lot of organic vege, low carb, high protein diet.  I was fed like this since I was a  baby, so I don't like bread, rice, pasta...I love soups, fish, and lean meat...oh..and red wine in general..I am a very picky eater too.  Thus, it is no surprise that I am a 00p, or Gap kids size 12, much much skinnier than Chinese chick's average, the dressmakers were a bit shock.

I guess the dressmakers will eventually get used to X-men generation brides. However for now, if any bride is at the outer range sizes, she MUST be clear and precise with the dressmaker or else...the dress may have a weird cut or fit.

Well said, diets vary so drastically around the world and diet is not always to blame for "weird sizes" sometimes medical issues, metabolism and other factors play a role!!  There is nothing WRONG with bread and pasta, and like you said the "healthy stuff" is not exclusive, you can like both!

I love pasta and bread and that doesn't prevent me from loving the healthy stuff as well - fruit, veggies, etc. But I also LOVE my curves, as so does my boyfriend. I think all of us should love our body, our shape and try to keep healthy above all things.

I'm definetly not petite and I sure don't think I'm "weird sized". If you asked me, I'd say 00 is quite a weird size, too.

And here I thought my size 10s were HUGE!!! Glad to know I am not alone out there!!!

Here are the shoes by themselves:

Aren't they fabulous for a size 12?  I'm completely in love with them!  They are a little big on me though, so if you're going to order any Madeline shoes and you can sometimes fit into a size 11, then maybe go with the 11 instead of the 12 :)  I got them delivered to Canada and had to pay somewhere around $20 in tax when they arrived, but if you're American then that shouldn't be a problem.

Now back to the dress talk offtopic.gif  lol!

$650 is still a HELL of a lot less than you would have paid in store AND your dress is custom!!!!! Take a deep breath, pour that drink and relax.... you will have a $650 dress you love as opposed to a $300 dress you are self conscious in!!!!!  It is your day so you deserve to be happy and just think... it could be worse... you could be ordering a whole NEW dress!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
