Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

So a quick update. My dress finally arrived Friday and although the fit is pretty good. I'm still upset about how it turned out. Because I pieced together a picture of two dresses, they put a seam right where the pictures came together. I also have to have the sweetheart neckline adjusted to be more flattering. So I will be trying to get this done before Friday! I have some pictures posted in the April 2011 forum.

You can tell how upset I was at the time because I couldn't even post pictures properly.

mocha,

I saw the pics and I don't think the dress look bad at all! I'm not sure if it's an up-close thing, but I don't even think the back looks awkward with the seam... I hope it all works out for you, I think you're just stressing too much since your day is getting so close and you feel like you don't have the time. But it'll all fall in to place, you'll see!

more positive vibes your way cheesy.gif

Oh I can't open the pictures.. I think it's because of my 3rd-world connection!! I'm so curious... I've been checking this thread every second just to see if Mocha's dress arrived on time... it's like the end of a Mexican soap opera!!!! hahaha just so you know Mocha, the good girls always have happy endings in these soap operas... for what I've been reading from the girls in the other post, I'm sure you will look just fine in your dress... good luck! can't wait to see the pictures!

Mocha,

Finally I saw the pics.  Ok...

1) you look great in both dresses!  I prefer the first one, because the second one is a bit yucky 1990s (nothing wrong with it, it is just a personal taste), and the first one is more beachy with cleaner lines.

2) Even if ur crazy FMIL is going with ruffles, she won't outshine u.  Because you are the bride, and no one care what the mothers are wearing..as long as they don't dress smth...crazy or inapropriate.

3) The second dress is beautiful at the front,..and seriously do u think ...folks will stare at ur back and notice the seam?!

4) u can add a ribbon with a tiny bow to hide the seam like this picture or just wear a long veil

After Mocha's seam at the back saga...

I put more attention to..the back of the dress...and notice..seam across at the back is pretty common...it depends on the cut of the dress of course..some hide it with a ribbon/bow and other things...look below..that is the famous Vera Wang for frugal brides who shop at Davids' Bridal..

ok...the couture version don't have the seam exposed like this, it was more...folded and hidden.

Since I have less than a week until we leave I decided to just suck it up and live with the dress. I am having the neckline adjusted and that's all. I figure the dress looks the worst from the back and with a veil I should be fine. Who knows? Maybe I will bring both and decide later on. I just feel more like a bride in the second one and the quality of the fabric is so much better too. I can't wait to be finished with all the dress drama! And it will feel amazing to trash it! I'm almost tempted to go all our with paint and scissors!

Am I the only one that can't see Mocha's dress?  I keep trying but no luck!  Mocha honey I'm sure the dress is lovely judging from the comments of a few others who are lucky enough to be able to see it.  Try to breathe and remember, the most important aspect of the day is that you are marrying your man :) The rest is just fluff.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
