Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

Hi there!

I recently had a knock-off made by Milly Bridal and am soooo very happy with it! It's based on the Badgley Mischka "Erica" dress that I fell in love with at Kleinfeld's (but not the $5k price tag!)  I sent them 3 photos that I found online, provided the fabric (which was key), and they made it for $150! I've included photos so you can see the results (though I'd rather wait until the wedding when I'm all dolled up - ha). But I wanted to let everyone know what a great experience I had. If you're thinking about going with them, feel free to email me with questions or for advice. I believe the key to getting a great dress was communicating thoroughly and often (on Skype), and being very specific.

Slightly Sad sad.gif My Monica Bridal dresses aren't ready yet. She sent me a message last night to say they would be another day, but she added a tracking number. I really hope I get the pictures tonight. I want to check out the dresses so I can decide if we will use them for BM dresses too.

Thanks!! I was so nervous about it. I knew it could be the greatest thing or the worst disaster, so I'm glad it turned out ok!

@TheFutureWagners: I did research online to find out what type of fabric the designer used. It was a hammered silk charmeuse, and the texture is what makes it wearable (at least for me!)  It kind of hides any imperfections, whereas regular flat charmeuse would show too much. I'm in NYC, so luckily I have access to all of the fabric stores in the fashion district. I did find stuff online, too. Before I bought the fabric, Milly actually sent me a fabric sample. They were really great.

Hey Ginger,

I have been a sneaky follower for a while and am dying to see how your dress turned out.. have you got it yet? I am trying to choose between Monica and Gianniar but your dress looks reasonably similar to what I am after so if they do a good job I might send Monica Bridal some pics too..

Thank you  cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
