In a way, I can agree with Sapphire, in the sense that, for designers, it makes their job a pretty uneasy one. However, if knock-offs were absolutely illegal, David's Bridal and Davinci Bridal for that matter, would be nonexistent because that's exactly what most of their dresses are. Look-alikes of designer gowns. I think that if you can have a similar dress made, can't afford or don't want to pay the hefty designer price tags, you are in no way obligated to do so. For myself, I don't think my dress was a knock-off (it's a Venus Bridal dress), but I also wasn't about to pay $1000 or up for my dress because if I did I'd be living on the street right now!

knockoffs definately arent illegal, like Jacilyn said its only counterfeit things that are illegal since they are claiming to be the designers product when it isnt. Knockoffs are so popular with everything in life so it isnt that bad. I personally am so happy that companies overseas will make a dress knockoff because I dont think a bride should be limited to what she can buy because of price, because I am sorry no wedding dress is worth $10,000 in my opinion so it is best to go with what you want to get and if that is a knockoff than so be it :) as long as it makes you happy and glowing on your wedding day who is to judge? But if you arent comfortable buying one that is totally fine too :) just know its definately not illegal.

I'm happy for knockoffs, I love my davids bridal gown! hehe

serously though cant anyone just be happy saying I look great in my wedding gown?

and if its "illegal" to have knockoffs I would defanatly be in trouble for my 20 pair of knockoff sunglasses and my over 200 bootleg DVDs... dern the military for sending me over seas hehehehe

Ahhh this is the thread I've been searing for!!!

Everyone who has ordered a knockoff dress can you please post the link to the site where you got it, and tell us if you'd recommend them?

I have a specific dress I've been looking for and can't seem to find it (Paloma Blanca 3802). It's tough searching for a specific dress since the designer names/numbers aren't listed. I've flipped through maaaany pages so far and plan to keep looking!!

Maybe one of you guys can point me in the right direction!

I don't want to be "a Paloma bride" i want to be a beautiful bride who isn't broke because of the dress :)

i used zero_love on ebay, she also has a website wedding dress, prom gown and bridesmaid dress by landy bridal I don't know if she has that specific dress. She didn't have my specific dress and I contacted her to see if she could do a different dress. She had me email photos of the dress I wanted and she made it! It cost me $190 which included shipping and about 40 days to receive the dress. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER! She was so nice and always responded, maybe not immediately do to time difference but always replied. The dress is PERFECT! I was nervous about doing it but thought for $190 it was worth the risk since the dress normally cost around $900. I ABSOLUTELY love my dress. I say that I recommend her, although my dress doesn't have any beading or lace so i can't recommend her as far as that goes. If you want i can post some photos of my dress and the detail in it so you can see her work. I think a couple of other girls have ordered their dresses from her I don't know if they have them yet or not.

ha I don't know. Her site is nice cause she actually categorizes things by the real designer so I just jumped to other and started looking!

I ordered a standard size from her just because if you order a standard size you can return the dress. It meant alot to me to find someone confident enough in their work that they would do returns. Alot won't. You would just have to contact them, send the dress back w/in 7 days. I think she charges a 30% restock fee, but i can't remember, I think she told me that if you need like a bigger size or something or order another dress they usually wave the restock fee.

I was very concerned about my dress being flimsy and unable to really hold itself up, especially since my mamas are 34DD. But its fantastic. i bought bra cups to add in just to give the mamas a little lift but the dress does the rest, and I can't even zip it up all the way yet!!! I have to get rid of my big ass!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
