Generally if you need to make changes because they did not send pics you can ask for reimbursement of the fees at another seamstress.

I guess I will see in a few days. The dresses I ordered had complicated ruffles around the neck, and I really wanted to see them before they shipped them out. Let's hope their version is like the original or my bridesmaids might look like they are wearing scarves or something!

For those who ordered from Babyonline, how long did it take you to get the dress after it was shipped?

I have not been nervous until now.  Now that they have shipped it without pictures, I am extremely nervous!  I am really nervous about getting a package that I have no idea what the dress will look like.  I want to get the package and see what it is asap!  For the first time I am starting to question my decision to buy a dress from China.  I really hope that I am freaking out over nothing.

Milly Bridal have made a replica of this MS Dress (it must have been a custom order, it doesn't have a train & is silver). Maybe you could email and ask for closer pictures of the beading?

I want to get a replica Maggie Reese dress for my TTD.  Any suggestions on who would be the best to make this dress.  The dress itself I think it simple, it's the beading that | am worried about.  I don't need it to be 100%, bit don't want the bead work to look skimpy either.  I have read through each page of this thread, and know that some place are better at certain types of dresses.  I know I would be spending a fraction of the dress's true cost (if bought "real") but don't want to loose hundreds of dollars on a gamble either.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.  I really don't know where I would be without BDW.

Ok BDW ladies, I am fashion illiterate and need some advice (picture a sundress with jeans and red crocs, lol.)  I am glad I listened to everyone saying to go out and try on all sorts of dresses.  I tried on about 25 dresses this past week and now I know I look best in white and form fitting.  I was surprised to be flattered in fit and flare, trumpet styles because I am not thin but I am very short.  The other styles seemed to wear me. So here are the dresses I like and opinions would be extremely helpful.

 Alfred angelo 1614 retired

I have envisioned myself on the beach getting married in Alfred Angelo 1614 for a few years now.  I like the soft flowing look and the train.  I adore the buttons down the back.  I would have this made in white with white overlay and a black belt or sash.

Modern Trousseau Autumn

Then I found this dress and have been obsessing over it.  It is fit and flare with latte dutch satin with Ivory alencon lace sewn on. I LOVE the lace and the sewn on style, the few buttons in the back, and the vintage feel it has.  The dress second hand would cost about 2,300.00 plus major alterations. To have it made I have been quoted around 420 but it is not a simple style to make. I would have it made in white on white with black or gray sash.

Davids Bridal operation Dream Dress H3281

and last but not least I really liked a dress on Brides July 2011 magazine cover.  Many of my friends saw it and told me it would look great but the dress turned out to be one of a kind.  Out of all the 20 gazillion dresses I tried, I only really liked 1. I keep thinking about that dress and plan to go back and try it on again in my size.  When I looked up the dress online it is designed after the Brides magazine cover that I liked!  The dress only comes in ivory, I look better in white, but it only costs 299 with very little alterations or I can have it made in white online.

I am sorry to not show pics but I am very tired and do not know how.   If you have the time please share your opinion with me.

I see a lot of brides on here are looking at ordering dresses from Babyonline and are looking for feedback from other brides.

I ordered a dress on August 15th and I can honestly say I was so happy with the communication with Babyonline and was able to outline changes I wanted and request pictures before shipping in case I wanted to make alterations.

Pictures were supposed to arrive within 15 days but on day 17 I logged in and found the status of my order set to "ready for shipment" (or something like that). I was a bit freaked and mailed them and was happy that they emailed me back so quickly saying they still had dress and would email pics.
Anyways a few days later I got a few crappy looking pics with an email saying "sorry our camera is having problems". Long story short - I could not see a full clear picture of the dress, either from front or back, so emailed them back explicity stating the pictures I wanted to see (full front, full back, the train, the bust, the neckline, interior boning ......). In addition the pictures they sent were the dress on a hangar so I asked them to put it on a mannequin per advice of another bride on here, and they replied saying NO the dress is too small for a mannequin. Now, I am no big person, but I'm not so teeney tiny that they can't get the dress on a mannequin. Last Friday they sent an email back stating that they dress was gone back to storage and they would send me pictures on Monday, then I got an email Monday stating their camera was having issues and they would send the pictures Tuesday. I was flying from ireland to US yesterday so obviously was offline all day yesterday, but checked last night and found some more pictures (see below), and a status that my dress had SHIPPED!!!!!!!!
I am not happy at all, and right now I would not recommend using them. Yes their responses are quick and good, but what use is that if you are not getting what you want? I feel like I am asking them the same questions over and over. I've asked 3 times now for pictures of the train, to remove the flowers and just add beading to the empire waist line, but they just seem to not listen. Now that it has shipped I'm not sure what by options are with regards a refund?

So whilst I don't think the dress looks like the original (was expecting a lot more lace), I think it's still nice, but I am concerned that I have ni pictures on a mannequin which would give me a clearer picture of the shape, concerned that I have asked repeatedly for no flowers, and concerned that they claim it has shipped. I am hoping this is a mistake so sent them the below email last night (no response as of this morning) :

Hello,

Thank you for the additional photos.
We had however discussed from the very start that I did NOT want flowers on the band and instead wanted cystals/beads (see original mail). Can this be changed?
Also I really need to see the dress on a mannequin to get a good sense of the shape. Yes I am a small size, but not small enough that the dress would not fit on a mannequin! Can you please place the dress on a mannequin and send pictures?
In addition, I still have not seen pictures of the train, which I have already requested.
I am concerned that the left and the right bust look like different sizes, but this could be the angle, so if you place on a mannequin this could help.
Am also a little worried that the area just below the bust seems much wider than the waist and hips - which is totally unnatural!! Again, having the dress on a mannequin would really help.
Will the corset on the back have an insert so you will not see my back?
Babyonline, Please do NOT ship this dress yet. My initial correspondence with you was very good, but unfortunately has not been so good since. I really wish to write a good review so I hope we can work together to get the dress I need.
Thanks so much,
Joanne

Will keep you updated of any progress!!

Joanne-  Thank you for all of your feedback!  The reason I purchased from babyonline without asking for feedback is because I read through the numerous other posts on this board posted previously.  It seemed like that had done a good job with a lot of the other girls dresses.  I think that your dress overall looks very good.  I agreee that you won't be able to tell the shape until you see it in person and try it on.

Most of the lace dresses that I have sen on the board never look like the inspiration dress.  They look very pretty, but just don't look the exact same.  It seems like the more detailed the dress, the less it will look less like the original.  I am sure your dress will be beautiful, but I would try to not overly compare it to the original.

According to the tracking number, my dress arrived in Ohio today.  I would think I should receive it in Boston by the end of the day tomorrow.  I will have my mother lace it up and take pictures.  I will post them immediately with my feedback.  I am hoping that it will all work out.  Still nervous after receiving NO pictures prior to shipment from babyonline, when they specifcally stated that they would send them.

I can post pictures of the original too.  The dress if you would like to look it up is Brenda by Sottero and Midgley.  I asked them to make the beading around the waist into a detachable beaded sash and gave them a picture of a different sash as inspiration.  The sash is what i am most worried about since I haven't seen any pictures.

The dress was shipped out on September 5th.  The shipping is going a little faster than I expected actually.  If it is in Ohio today I would expect it at the latest to reach me by Friday.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
