I love them both! They look like they are very well made and so beautiful. Thank you so much for posting pics and letting me know how things turned out. I hope you decide which dress is the best! I know you will :)

Lindy: my sister's dress that is made with chiffon is WOnderful.. it also fits my very well, the quality of the fabric is great (much better than their tulle or organza), so I can totally recomend Babyonline for a chiffon dress...gra2.jpggra2.jpglau3.jpg

Hey, prettypigpig... Any chance that was a response for me?  embarrest.gif  I hate to presume, so IF SO...  any thoughts on whether there's someone out there capable of a close approximation in your opinion?

Thanks, JQLong!  I appreciate the words of support.  I simply can't stop looking at it.  I've been inexplicably drawn to it since I stumbled across it.  I had already talked to Jasmine's about the dress I'd shopped originally, so I've asked them if they think they can do this dress and at what cost.  I'm waiting anxiously to hear what they have to say.  I've also asked Topspartner and Babyonline whether they think they could do it and, if so, for a quote.    Worried though that they'll all tell me they're confident, but it's really too much to take on or that no one will want to tackle it because it is complex.  All but holding my breath till I hear back.

If anyone has any suggestions of other vendors that my be capable, I'd sure love to hear their plugs.  :-)

The dress absolutely beautiful!  There is no such thing as "too much" for your wedding day.  Wear what makes you feel beautiful.  There are so many great sites that offer dresses for ladies (like us) on a budget.  Here comes my plug.......cheesy.gif I used JasminesBridalShop.  The customer service was AWESOME!  And my dress was amazing.  Some ladies on this thread have complained about the lack of customer service or having to wait for a response regarding their dresses....To me....that is a deal breaker.  Jasmines was great at answering my SEVERAL questions in a timely manner.  Check out their website www.jasminesbridalshop.com.

What ever site you use....good luck!

But.....check out jasmines!cheers.gif

Thanks, misskim_red!  I think managing my own expectations for any dress are a critical part of deciding to go the knock-off route.  I also must agree that falling in love with a professional picture is not ideal.  I've seen several pictures of gowns that I no where near loved when you seen them in person or on real people.  I guess I had kind of thought not seeing it would actually help me not expect too much or too similar of embellishments.  Maybe not, eh?  I'm so confused!

Alright, so here is my opinion on the "new" dress.... buy the real deal!!!!!!!!!!! I have so much confidence in the "knock off" dress makers after looking at the work but the intricacy and pattern in the lace with all the detail I just think it is a lot to expect.  I am looking for a pretty simple mermaid silhouette and that is what gives me confidence that a replica would workout.  I think the price you are going to hear is going to be higher than your "average" dress as that dress is anything but average!!!! It is absolutely stunning I don't know what else to say about it but I think that it may be a "splurge" purchase just to be sure it is the real deal!!! We are talking basic satin or chiffon here.... just my opinion though!

OK, Ladies...  I figure I've lurked in the shadows long enough.  :-)  Let me start by saying I've read (and re-read) the hundreds of posts contributed to this topic and I can't thank you all enough for sharing your experiences!  Based on everything I read, I've worked up enough courage to take the leap and hopefully enough knowledge to do so intelligently. However, I was all set to order my gown, but find myself at a cross roads now and would REALLY appreciate some objective feedback.

For reference, I visited several local bridal salons and tried on countless gowns.  Well, I found nothing I loved, but I learned a lot about my taste in gowns.... For my body type (5'10", street size 4, but with a butt and boobs), I definitely want a mermaid silhouette.  I do not, however like shiny fabrics. I love things that remind me of Old Hollywood have an antique or vintage vibe.  I fully intend to wear a French net, birdcage veil and will likely carry a broach bouquet.  My fiance's only request was that I not hide the girls, so I've been leaning towards a sweetheart neckline.  When I found nothing I loved in the shops, I basically spec'd out a composite picture of a gown composed of elements from other gowns I liked, and started shopping my gown (two tone, mermaid gown  in ivory lace and netting over dark champagne satin, with a deep sweetheart neckline and brush train),  based on the recos found here.

And then...  just before I was ready to make a decision on maker and pull the trigger on ordering, I stumbled across a picture of a new gown.  It isn't even in stores yet and won't be until fall, so I couldn't look at it in person if I wanted to.  I can't seem to insert pictures here, but you can see large pictures of it here --> http://www.bestbridalprices.com/images/allure/f2011/large/C184.html

So... (finally) my questions...  I'd like some honest feedback on the dress I stumbled across.  Is it "too much"? Overdone? Too blingy?  Even if it could be replicated, do you think I'd look back at pictures of it later with regret?  I'm not sure if it's just my anxiety over ordering online that has me second guessing and considering something new or not.  If this new gown really is my gown, have I just killed the idea of having it custom made?  In other words, is there a reliable shop out there that may be able to pull it off?

I'm SO confused!  Any and all feedback would be welcomed!  Thanks in advance!

yes, it was for you.  hahaha

first, do u know if the original dress is within ur budget? or can u find it off the rack at a sample sale? If yes, buy the original. If no, continue reading

second, have you tried on mermaid dresses with similar cut, color and style? If yes, continue reading...if no, go out and try on dresses.

it is a dress that requires a lot of hand work, but not complex...just a lot of hand stitching...

so...I think Toppartner or Monica Bridal can do the job.  but you won't get it for $100, maybe for $400, you will get smth very nice.

Anyone looking for a challenge?

I'm looking for this dress for my vow renewal..Monique Lhullier's Resort Collection 2012 Picture.jpg

Does anyone know where to find this dress? I'm not going to pay a thousand + for a vow renewal dress. I thought about sending it to someone to see if they'd make it, but there really isn't a link to send since it's a flash website.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
