Imara,

The USD is depreciating against the RMB like a poopie going down the toilet, so the price will not go down.  I always laugh at all those US politicians and Obama..when they said the RMB/Yuan needs to appreciate...well well be careful what u wish for. ..the result will be.. No more roll back in Walmart...because everything will be more expensive.

I understand and I didn't want to pay them less than what they wanted.  They asked me to name a price and I told them I would pay how much they need in order to make it, I just didn't understand why every time I asked for something different the price would go up, even when what I was asking for was less materials and labor.  Besides, the listing said free shipping and the price was less than half of what they ended up asking for.  I'm glad that they were okay with discussing the price with me though.  It made me feel like the price was real, not just simply because they wanted more money.  They showed me the materials they would be using and several samples of similar dresses.  They're all very beautiful.  I wouldn't want anyone else making my dress at this point.

Another update from Babyonline. Yesterday, Sunny and Serena (the salesgirls from babyonline) stayed until late night to make sure I got an answer about my dress, and now they told me that it will be done by Monday! That's great news! And it was also very nice of them!

Alright ladies, I received my dress from babyonline!  I am very happy with it.  Overall, I would recommend this company regardless of the issues I had with them because the quality of the end product is well worth it.  From my experience, here is a list of the positives and negatives of working with this company:

Positives

  • Good quality overall: It is fully lined, the bodice has boning and cups built in for support, and it has a layer of crinoline as requested.
  • Accurate replication: I ordered a custom dress and I would say it's about 90-95% accurate.
  • Price: It only cost $150 shipped.
  • Near perfect fit: The dress is only an inch or two too long.  Fits perfectly everywhere else.
  • Shipping time: It shipped on February 24th and I received it February 28th.
  • Follow-through on requests: I asked for photos to be sent before the dress was shipped and they complied.

Negatives

  • Communication: While the communication in the beginning was excellent, it deteriorated over time.  Sure, they had the holiday and all, but I was told my dress shipped when it hadn't, they thought I had ordered two dresses at one point instead of one, I received incorrect tracking numbers, etc.
  • Production time: I was told the dress would take 10 business days when I ordered it on January 6th.  I was promised several different deadlines along the way, but in the end it didn't get shipped until February 24th.  I know some people may think this is excusable due to the holiday, but if they knew a holiday was coming up, then they shouldn't have promised ten days.  Maybe if you order a dress now it would take 10 days, but I can only speak for my experience.
  • Minor issues with dress: they did not accurately place the flowers, it's more A-line than the original dress, you can see some of the stitches where the outer skirt is attached to the lining, the flowers are glued on instead of sewn on, and there are a couple dirt spots (not noticeable in photos).

Here is the final product:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
