Hello all you knockoff brides!

I have been reading this thread for a long time, and whanted to share with you my story.

I started looking for wedding dresses for my wedding next july, and found out that I realy loved lace dresses. In my country it is the most common that brides rent a dress, and the rentals do not buy lace dresses. So I started looking in to having one made in China.

I read alot of forums and reviews, and started chatting with Milly Bridal and Landy Bridal. Milly started out good, but when I asked for pictures of samples of lace they just sent a few. I got them to send my fabric samples and it took over a month to arrive, and in the meanwhile the stoped answaring my emails. I think they were a good company but are not keeping up now, so I would not recomend them to anyone.

I also sent emails or requests to alot of other wendors, Monica bridal and more. Monica only had one lace they said they could make the dress with and it was what I whanted.

Landy bridal on the other hand always answared my emails within 24 hours, when I asked to see ther lace samples they sent my a folder with 63 pictures of diffrent lace. I got fabric samples from them and it took 2-3 days to arrive. At first I was going to order the Maggie Sottero Natalie, but with some changes, sweetheart neckline, halter and more. But the day before I orderd I saw the new line from Maggie Sottero and fell in love with Beatrice. I orderd a dress inspired by Beatrice from landy, with a additional detacheable halterneck and the lace I loved.

They said it would tak 45 days in making, before that time had passed I got an email with pictures of my dress, and it is beautiful. It has arrived and is just perfect. It has great boning, and a strech on the inside to help keep it up(which I did now see in the orginal Maggie Sottero dresses I tried) the skirt is 5 layers(silky soft next to the body, then 2 layers of tulle, satin and tulle with lacey overlay).

I had given a bit loose measurements over the hips and it is a litel bit big. But fits every where else, there is still a long time until my wedding so I had always assumed that I would whant it fitted properly after it arrived.

I also orderd a underskirt/petticoat and its perfect and just like the picture.

I would recomend them to anyone, wonderful service and gorgeus dress. I know they ar a bit mor expensive than some other wendors, but for me it was worth it. Am so happy I took the risk.

I cant put in a post with pictures, but you can see them in my profile.

Beautiful dresses choices ladies! c&J- that dress is amazing.

Mishcaka,
I hope you are having a fantastic wedding! And congratulations on the pregnancy :)

Bonnie,
If only it was in my budget, I'd be a happy, less-stressed girl. :) I did find it for $820-$850 at a few other shops further from the city (like a few hours further) but even then it would be a painful stretching taking into account alterations, etc...

Primavera,
I've sent emails to InWeddingDress, Topspartner, Dressily Me,and Jeff Liu. Jeff Liu sent a very short email saying he can make it for $219 including express shipping (didn't acknowledge my question on fabric and pictures either). InWeddingDress sent me a form email not acknowledging my request for pictures if they've made it before. I haven't heard back from the other two.  I am going to chalk this up to the Chinese holiday and having a lot of emails since it's bridal season.

My sister is in town so I'm taking her to see the few dresses on my short list. If she gives me the thumbs*up then I'll pull the trigger and hope for the best.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

I am also having a problem with Babyonline.  My dress was due to ship out from their factory on January 19th.  I had asked if they could send a picture, they said they couldn't because they didn't want to miss the shipping deadline and my dress was already getting packaged to be sent.  I received a tracking number on Jan. 24th - when I tried to track it, the number they provided couldn't be found.  After going back and forth with many emails, I was told that tracking number was "system generated" and my dress didn't ship.  since then, they have given me so many different excuses, from they are sending it, to they are taking "sepecial care" because if needs much hand work, to it's not finished yet.  As of this past Friday, they said their workers didn't come back to work what.gif   and they will TRY to get it to me.  I know it is their holiday and all, but I am tired of all the excuses.  all I am asking for is a straight honest answer from them.  Now they are just not returning my emails.  At this point, I am not sure what to do.

Thanks for keeping me updated, I really appreciate it!

I chatted with inweddingdress from their site. I didn't have that many questions at the time but did ask for pics and she said they didn't have any of that dress. I asked if they had made it before and she said that they had one in process right now. If i find out something more I will def. let you know.

Ok, I waited 2.5 ..almost 3 months for my dress made by Monica Bridal, because of the amount of handwork, and it was their high season.  I did not rush/harass them, because I wanted them to take their time and make it well.  Technically, brides should order their dress 9 months ahead, and the local bridal shop takes 6 months to...delivery it.

Yes, there was a big chinese holiday, yes ur dress maybe still sitting inside of their factory and yes there were STORMS in the US ( my boss stuck 5-10 hours every week for the past 3 weeks in US airports)

so...the way I see it..is just like ur flight got delay or cancel due to bad weather, u can nag at the airline's counter or just wait.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
