I've ordered 2 dresses and a veil from DHGate and never had to pay any additional fees or charges with any of my orders- but I guess it could depend on what country you are in.

"Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer`s responsibility. Please check with your country`s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying"

It also states that "you would have to pay that to the courier upon receipt of the package(s) from China". I'm assuming the package would be delivered to my door-how would I pay the UPS guy-in cash?! Or would I have to go pick it up at UPS or FedEx?

I'm sorry if these are dumb questions, lol- I have no idea how this process works...would someone mind explaining?

Thank you!

Hi Girls,

Just wanted to know if anyone had heard of Bridal Blvd.? They seem to have the exact same layout as light in the box, same web page, dresses, etc. They are having a deal now until 2/12 on free custom sizing and $10 shipping if anyone's interested. I am in the same boat as everyone posting, whether to get a knock off and from where?? Good luck and Congrats!!

here's the link:

Tigerlily, even though I had both dresses custom made, I did the measurements for the first one on my own and had to pay almost as much for alterations. Thankfully, the second one fit perfect with professional measurements. So PLEASE GET PROFESSIONAL MEASUREMENTS! My numbers weren't off by more than an inch, but that makes a huge difference.

Thank you for the advice Mocha! I was actually thinking about that as I read through all these threads (just came across it about 2 weeks ago). I'm STRONGLY considering getting a dress made- we're on a tight budget (who isn't, lol) and honestly I'm not really that picky- my main concern is that it looks good/fits right. The dress doesn't have to look identical to the original. I'm going to look at dresses probably next week so I can get an idea of what I like, and take it from there. I haven't tried on any gowns yet, so we'll see!  I do know that "what you like" vs "what looks good on you" can be two totally different things!

Silly question- where do you go to get measured- do you just make an appointment with a seamstress? Is it expensive?

Getting my measurements done was pretty easy, and almost an adventure. I stopped at a place that does alterations and told them I needed measurements for a dress I was having made. The woman working could barely speak English so I had to try to explain several times. She thought I wanted her to make me a dress. Anyways she took the measurements and didn't charge me anything, just a thank you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
