Yeah, she wanted to include pick ups on the front of the dress, and I had an idea for the sleeves, like accent straps sewn onto the sleeves, but then I decided I didn't want that, and she Insisted that those Should be done.  Even after my dad said that he didn't want that, only the long sleeves.  In the end the dress would've been about $2000 when I told her my budget is less than $700.

Would a knock off look even close to this good?

Bonnie,

I just think it's sad that she gave them a budget, and then they essentially doubled it and made suggestions to make major changes to a dress. Why not try to find her a more suitable dress within her budget? Is that not why they are there.

Poor customer service I think.

This dress is stunning! You'd pull it off beautifully too since you're so tall (well, tall to me since I'm only 5'3, lol) Good luck, I hope you find the dress!

Hi, I have a question for the girls that have received their dresses. Did you have to pay some sort of a customs fee besides shipping charges? I came accross this on DHGate and was wondering how much of a fee they're talking about. If there is, how/when is it  payed? This is what it reads:

"Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer`s responsibility. Please check with your country`s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying"

It also states that "you would have to pay that to the courier upon receipt of the package(s) from China". I'm assuming the package would be delivered to my door-how would I pay the UPS guy-in cash?! Or would I have to go pick it up at UPS or FedEx?

I'm sorry if these are dumb questions, lol- I have no idea how this process works...would someone mind explaining?

Thank you!

I wouldn't worry too much about customs fees. I've ordered lots of stuff from overseas and never had to pay customs. They usually mark gift or samples on the package and it goes through customs. I received two packages from DHGate vendors, and both times no fees. If you are placing larger orders, they may value the item as customs and send a bill, but I wouldn't worry too much for a dress. P.S. I'm from Canada, so others might have U.S. input.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
