Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

I fell in love with an Oleg Cassini dress at David's Bridal, but the price was more than I desired to spend. I spent some time researching knock-offs and reading blogs from other brides who had ordered them. I ended up purchasing a knock-off of the dress from StopDress.com (made in China). I got the knock-off dress and the fit and stitching was just amazing... it was perfect, better than the designer. But, having fallen in love with the real thing, I found that the knock-off fabric and beading was not the soft, charming feel I'd fallen in love with. I ended up selling the knock-off dress for the price I paid on weddingdressmarket.com. I do believe that had I never seen the designer dress, I would have loved the knock-off, particularly if there was no beading involved.

Yeap, I said this on forum awhile ago...if u want a 100% replica..go buy the original dress!

Gracimurano,

lace is ok, but tulle is less soft, u can see the pics of my bestfriend's dress made by babyonline and my dress from monica bridal on this thread.

I'm really pleased with the quality of both my Monica Bridal dresses because I never saw the originals. I liked the pictures and Monica Bridal simply recreated the pictures. They don't have patterns of the originals, they don't have access to the originals and most of time can't see most of the details. So if you want something exact to what you tried on, save the $200 and buy the original. It's the only way you'll be happy. Rule #1 of gown shopping is, don't shop out of your price range.

Grace: I just found this thread last night and read the WHOLE THING (well I mainly browsed for photos and read everything posted by prettypigpig - I learned a LOT at once! I also have a thread going on weddingbee: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/what-was-your-experience-with-custom-replica-knock-off-dress that has some photos too.

So far, my main pick is babyonline - I emailed them a couple of times and have gotten fast, honest replies. I think the main thing is to communicate specifics clearly, offer to pay for what you really want (I mean $150 can only buy so much) and be friendly... actually, be VERY friendly - it IS your wedding dress ;)

Hello everyone!  I'm looking at a bunch of different places to do my dress.  I have looked at dressilyme, babyonline, monica bridal, topbridaldress, and duosheng to get quotes and all that good stuff.  I'm wanting the Maggie Sottero "Rachael", but I want off the shoulder straps added like on the Private Label by G 1391. I was looking through the thread and liked what I saw for duosheng and Monica Bridal.  Monica Bridal and Babyonline said they could do the straps.  Dressilyme said they could do it, but they'd have to change the neckline which I'm fine with.  They said they could do it for $213.19 excluding shipping.  We talked about the beading, and at first they said they couldn't do it.  Then when I told them I know it can't be 100% but I would like it as close as possible, they said they could get it at about 89%.  Monica bridal said they could do it for about $147.  Babyonline could do it for $150, but I've read here that Monica bridal does a better job at beading.  I'm not really sure who to go with.  Monica Bridal said they'd send me a picture of beading they've done that resembles my dress, but after the holiday is over (which is fine because I'm in no rush).  All I've seen on duosheng here lately is their communication is very much lacking so that makes me nervous.  The two big things I'm worried about is the beading and the big bow on the backside which is my favorite.  I'll add pictures and hope they show up!

Please forgive my lack of "photoshop" skills. LOL That's the idea I want atleast! Anyways, who do you think I should go with?

Hello Ladies,

I'm newly engaged and haven't started trying on dresses yet. My wedding is going to be the end of July (aaahhh, it's coming fast). I'm living in abroad, but will have my wedding in the US.

I won't be able to try on dresses (I want to try them on first to see which silhouette looks nice) until the beginning of March when I go home, and I'm afraid that if I order a knock off that I won't get my dress until it's too late to make alterations.

Also, I've found two that I like with flower applique on them, but am unsure how these will turn out for a knock off. I really like the Maggie, but want a V-neck like the LaRichi and I love the sash at the waist.

I've read a lot of reviews and am thinking of Landy, Gianinar Bridal, or Monica Bridal. (Landy has already sent me a reply to my email that I sent 15 mins ago, but unfortunately they don't have a pic of the completed dress.)

Suggestions?

I jsut heard back from topspartner, they said the could make my dress with my alterations! I love this dress Pronovias malibu but i want a v in the back and a corset instead of a zipper. do you think I should go with them? How similar do you think the lace on the skirt will be, I really like the antique look to it...malibu-3.jpg

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
