Shootystar:  So sorry about your dress, I'm sure it is stressful.  The unfortunate part is generally speaking when I look at the replica and inspiration dress, I do think Monica Bridal did a decent job replicating the idea of the dress.  Yes, agreed the bodice is much too long but the other things are small details to them I'm sure.  They had originally agreed to make you another dress, would you be willing to forgo the details like the extra tulle, the change in the petals on the flowers, the change in the beading on the flowers etc if they made the dress with the correct length in the torso so the fit was in line with that of the inspiration dress?  I think the problem you are running into is you are asking to change all of the details AND the fit of the dress...so essentially the entire dress.

I would image they would beable to change the top of the dress so the torso isn't as long and get that done in the timeframe you need...

good luck!

People have a lot of positive experiences and gorgeous dresses on this knock off thread.  I think what we all have to remember is we are paying typically under $200 for dresses (and sometimes a lot less, mine was $118!) that are $1000 + in the bridal shops.  As much as we want exact replicas that isn't really a good mindset to have nor is it fair to expect these seamstresses to create these elaborate and expensive dresses for pennies... keep perspective ladies!

Lauren,

If you are on budget, you can go for the several options:

1) get a sample dress from the local bridal store

2) get a 2nd hand dress

3) Order one from the internet made by the Chineses.

Option 1 + 2, what u see is what you will get.

Option 3, much cheaper than Option 1 and 2, give you the option to add extra things to personalize ur dress, but it can be risky.

Hi Ladies,

I have a question that i am hoping you will be able to answer for me. I have found two dresses on different websites, and want to contact Monica Bridal and babyonline and get a quote for both dresses. I am wondering how i go about sending the photo to them as i cannot seem to find them anywhere else. Do i just send them the link from another dressmaker that is on DHgate?

Many thanks for your help.

Beachy,

I've only ordered from Monica Bridal but the way it works there is that you send them pictures with detailed descriptions via email.  When you are in the Monica Bridal Store online under DHGATE, click on contact seller on the left hand side.  This will take you into the email option.  Copy the photos of the dresses and upload them one at a time.  I think you can attach four photos to each email.

Hello Ladies,

Sorry for the long post. This may have been answered before, but I need input from the following dress makers. DHGate, Milly, Landy and Duosheng.

I found 'the dress' to be the Eresma from Pronovias 2011 collection. I needed to save some $$$ from the over $1K price tag so I decided to start searching for Chinese dressmakers to get my dress made. After a couple weeks of research, I found Milly to have the best reviews with little mishaps. I didn't know about Landy, DHGate or Duosheng when I was searching (wish I did =)

Anyhow, I learned from forums like these that with any of these sellers you must order very early. Plus you won't get 100% the same dress. I went ahead and contacted Milly last November. They didn't have my dress on their website so this was going to be custom. After a LOT of emails going back and forth about the details of the dress, I was pretty confident I would be happy with the outcome.

Once I got past the test phase and got pictures of the bodice, I was immediately concerned because I could see the princess cuts right thru the pleated layer. We revisited the material the dress is made out of. I insisted they send me fabric samples. I'm glad I did =) I went back to bridal shop and compared the samples to the dress. I was able to get the correct fabric picked, but now I am concerned about the lace applique. I'm attaching pictures of the comparison below.

I'm highly debating of ordering another dress from Landy, Duosheng or DHGate. I did more research on Duosheng and they do have my dress as part of their catalog, so I'm incline to think they have the correct lace. I have yet to contact any of these sellers to compare laces yet.

Before I do, I would like to know if any of you have order a dress from the Pronovias collection from any of these sellers and if the lace looked close to the original. Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
