Bonnie,

I think it's great that you and your best friend can me so honest.  I absolutely cannot be that way with my best friend.  When she asks my opinion on her fashione sense, erm Okay her lack there of, and if I dare go against her, she pitches a fit.  So I've learned over the years to just shake my head like a diligent boyfriend and say "yes dear, you look lovely dear" when I really want to say "you look like you should be swingin' from a stripper pole".  hmmm the irony is, she is brutally honest with me and my Princessisms.  I recognize that about myself, and can laugh about it.  Sure doesn't go both ways though.  Ah well, I still love her though.

Bonnie -  Your BFF's dress came out AWESOME!!!!!  It is beautiful.

I went ahead and ordered my dress from babyonline.  I am so excited to see it.  They said it is due to be mailed out on Dec. 8th.  I can't wait!!!

My bff just tried on her dress, she was pleased with her dress, it fits like a glove.  She is a size 14 with a size 20 waist, so no dress in local bridal shop could fit her perfectly.IMG_1674.JPGIMG_1672.JPGIMG_1675.JPG

Terilina!

They did not charge extra for the second dress, but they did charge me extra if I wanted BOTH dresses shipped to me.  They said about 10 days, but I think it was a few days more or less ( but I can't remember... lol).  I do think that dress choice is amazing!  So unique.  and even if not the material you wanted, they definitely stayed true to the style.  Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you.  So busy!!!

Garniner sent me pictures of my dress yesterday.  It is different material than the original.  I think what I like best about the original dress pictures is the look of the soft satin material (see last 3 pics).  In the Garniner dress, it looks like they put a sheer material over the entire dress (see first few pics).

I don't know much about dress making, but would there be the satin material underneath the sheer stuff??  I'm wondering if they can just remove the outer sheer material.  It looks like they attached the lace detail on the bottom to the sheer material, so I would have to get them to do that to the satin part.

I really like the matte satin that they used for chris' dress (pg 205).

Chris - did it take them long to remake your dress in a different material?  Also, did they charge you less for the second dress?  I am also wondering if I get them to remake it, if I should buy both, just in case.

I am starting to get in a time crunch.  We leave on January 12th.

I would also get them to remove the ruffle just under the waist (I don't think it turned out right).  And add the ribbon to the seam under the bust and waist/hip area.

So...I think my options are to either:

-get them to remove sheer material, and hope for a beautiful dress underneath, or

-get them to remake the dress - as long as they could do it within a week or so, or

-should I take it as it is, see how it looks on me,  and get a seamstress to make any changes needed.

Bonnie - I'm hoping to get your advice, too!  I am also, wondering if I am wrong about the material and if the original dress has the sheer over top and maybe I don't notice it because it's so fitted??

Thanks for all the advice!  I feel much better about the dress now.  I can see the similarity in fabric between the two dresses.  I asked them to remove the flowers, add the ribbon and add clasps to the back so that I can attach the train to the back to make it shorter.  They said it would take 2 days to do the alterations.  I can't wait to see it!

Bonnie - I love the pink dress you got!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
