Bonnie,

This is a perfect example of a very smart dress choice by a plus size girl.  The dress is absolutely gorgeous on your bf.  If you didn't say her size, I would not have guessed it.  Very very flattering.  The craftsmanship and detailing on this dress is amazing.  Is this Monica Bridal?

I think your dress is very beautiful and to me it looks just like the one you got inspiration from. (That girl has a wonderful body) and I´m sure you will look as fantastic as she did. Don´t change anything.angel2.gif

Your bff dress is really nice. Is she going to wear the pink bow or not?bunny.gif

Mocha,

The dress was made by Babyonline, because Monica Bridal wanted to charge a bit of extra due to the size...heehee.

Ginger,

Yes, she still looks pretty meaty in the dress, but she knows it is not the dress's fault.  She likes the dress because it hides her winter truck tires, elephant legs, and it is light.  We tried on so many dresses in local bridal shops.

Some dresses were too heavy, some fit her waist, but too big at all other parts ( her girls are size 10, the waist is size 20, the hip is a size 14), some she couldn't get in, some she could get in, but couldn't zip up.  The dress fits like a glove, I had to push her in a bit and move her tires around in order to zip it up like we zip our overloaded luggage (trust me, at one point we were very worried)

Nan,

She will wear it with the bow, she said the bow can distract people, and focus less on her winter truck tires. lol

I'm surprised Monica Bridal wanted to charge more, I am proportionate but a size 14/16 in street clothes and Monica Bridal didn't charge anything additional at all based on my measurements.

I can't help but feel bad for your friend when you talk about her like you do lol, I'm sure you must have a very honest friendship but man oh man, talk about harsh! :)

Badgergirl,

Yes, it is a very honest friendship indeed.  She would also comment on my surferboard chest and very b*tchy attitude.  We are almost of the opposite in every single aspect, from look to personality.  A classic example of opposite attraction! LOL

She will move to St-Louis soon, so I won't see her that often.  The dress is my wedding gift to her.

She values my taste, because she doesn't want to look like a burritos on her wedding day ( don't laugh, her other bestfriend, looked like a burritos on her day).  It was her who came up with winter truck tires term, not me! LOL

I think it depends on the amount of details, if a dress has a lot of lace applique and beadings, Monica Bridal will charge a bit more, because bigger size =more manual work for them.  However, Monica Bridal's materials are a bit better than Babyonline's, tulles are softer, and the much more beadings and details.

Isn't it nice to have friendships like that?  So few people you can have that true relationship with, i love it! :) :)

I'm so glad for her that with your help she won't look like a burrito hahaha!  Her dress looks lovely on her, and WHAT A NICE wedding gift from you!

I ordered my dress from Monica Bridal, think it will be here tomorrow or tuesday, can't wait!!!!  It is a really really simple dress though, I wonder if maybe I should have looked into babyonline considering I didn't do any beading, lace, or tulle at all.  Just organza over satin with flower at the hip.  Oh well :)  Couldn't beat the price anyway!  I'm just going crazy waiting for it to come so I can finally try it on!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
