Hi! I'm so glad I found this thread! I just fell in love with two beautiful dresses and we are determined to not spend a fortune on our wedding by going into debt, especially with us paying for it by ourselves. I just read most of this whole post in 2 days, lol. So it seems like Gianinar Bridal is the best choice? What about Monica Bridal? I missed all of the posts about this retailer. If you choose this retailer what influenced you decision??

Denee,

I chose Monica Bridal because they were easy to contact and actually responded. I sent a request to gianinar over two months ago and still haven't heard anything. They were very willing to make my requested changes, are sending pre shipping pictures, and are including a veil.

I chose Gianinar because they responded quickly, sent me pics of a dress similar to the one I want and quoted me a good price as well.  Monica Bridal responded days later and didn't have any pictures similar to the one I wanted so I wasn't comfortable.

Word.

But I'm not about to throw my Gucci in the ocean or roll it around in the sand - so a knock-off TTD is a great solution.

Breeze,

Seriously, buying a dress from China is like going to Walmart, it is bad for the US economy, but it is not a labor abuse.  It is not like buying a Tanzarnite or a blood diamond.

For unknown reasons, I have to eat a lot to maintain my weight and besides window shopping, I don't exercise.  I eat out at restaurants everyday for lunch due to biz lunches, and eat whatever I want in the afternoon and night.  My FI calls me a Yaris that consumes like a Hummer.

Thanks Bonnie. You've given me peace of mind about my purchase, and any other purchases I'll make online from China. :)

I picked Monica Bridal because I wanted a full-customized dress, not a replica.  Communication was great and easy.  My dress turned out to be beautiful.  I don't really see my dress as a fake, since it is not a replica, and don't understand why people are obsessed with brands in today's society.

I look for good quality and good value.  If a brand can offer both, I am in.  OK, as a 30 yrs old with 6 digits salary, I admit I am part of the excessive consumer group as well. With 60+ pairs of shoes and a walk-in closet that needs further expansion, I am not a good role model.  However, spending thousands on a dress for 1 day or less is still a bit too excessive.  I would put the money on my mortgage or a diamond bracelet..mouhahaha.

That was exactly why I chose the custom made route. I couldn't find a dress that had everything I wanted, so I'm having one made. And now instead of settling for the resort photographer, we're bringing our own. And my Tacori engagement ring will get it's matching wedding band. It's all about how you choose to allocate your money. I'm going to be quite pleased putting our money towards things that are going to last more than a few hours.

I also feel better knowing that my money is going to Monica bridal and their employees, instead of paying for a bunch of advertising.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
