Jsz10 - I wouldn't feel dumb either i was so back and forth about getting a knockoff made of the Sottero & Midgley dress i wanted and in the ended i bought the real thing. Although i got the real thing at a steal i'm happy i got the real thing, no stressing about how my wedding dress is going to turn out. I know the quality is great and it's name brand.

Lolita:  Thanks! You're definitely right!  I think that is why I decided to go that direction in the first place.  I told my bridesmaid I could get the dress for $150, and she glared at me and said "this is your wedding dress!!! Please don't buy a knock-off"  and she was right!

I think I just sometimes get dress "guilt" when I think about how tight our budget is...but i'm doing really well saving in other places!

Yes, chinese dressmakers can do wonders (since most of the designer dresses are..chinese/made in china too) but the stress can be too intense for a bride (imagine what if it doesn't fit or the shape is totally off!!!).  I didn't find my dress in local bridal shops, and it was very hard to "picture" myself on D-DAY in a size 10 dress with clips on.

I am happy with my custom made dress as I added all the greedy features on it, and I have to say I am very lucky that Monica Bridal did a fab job on the dress and its matching 4 meters long veil.  However, I will goto Hong Kong and Beijing in September, over there $200 USD is the average price for a wedding dress for local brides, so I can see the dresses in person, hopefully find my second /reception dress there.

You just gotta do what YOU want. This dress on here is for my TTD, the dress for the ceremony is authentic. Although I did consider wearing my TTD dress for the ceremony and trashing the real one, lol. In the end I won't do it, but I have experiences with real dresses and knockoffs and I'm pleased with both! If it will make YOU happy then do it, it's your day! :)   (I'm not a selfish person in the least, but on my wedding day, I'm going to be! :P

Hey Ladies! I got my pics from Gianinar for my TTD! It looks pretty good!

I'm quite happy with it but am a bit concerned that it looks short! I'm about 5'5"... I don't like that the front isn't touching the ground there... Also I wish I could see the drapey-off-the-shoulder straps. I want to make sure they drape on my shoulder and not hang straight across. So I'll be asking them about both those things.

Here are the pics I sent.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
