By the way girls.... I had to get my dress altered to fit me. I got my measurements rechecked and I'm the same size as what I sent them but the dress is too big! So now I have to pay another $95 to a local dressmaker to correct this. She reads Chinese and was able to see that the paper said the dress was those measurements but when she re-measured me it was clear that I was the same size but the dress was 6 inches too big!

Yeah sorry - I should have been clearer about the shoes :) Duosheng also made the shoes... I started with a pair of high heel black and white striped shoes I found online, but it in paint and then went from there... I knew I wanted fun and colourful shoes - but everywhere I find them, they have a MASSIVE heel (I'm such a clutz I would end up faceplanting in my wedding dress) so I decided to give duosheng a try for the shoes as well :)

Shoes were $75 including postage - which for shoes that I had a dream about then got to design myself, to match my colour exactly - I'm totally stoked! :)

Jo- I think the dress is beautiful! It is a BIT different from the original but not too much different. Adding crystals yourself is definitely an option. I actually thought about doing that when some of my beading rusted from the salt water but I ended up getting 98% of the rust out so I left it alone.

I understand where you're coming from about the size. I got a corset back so it was a bit harder to mess up the size for me but maybe it's just the mannequin in your case? If the mannequin is the size of the dress it'll look tight and therefore, probably, small. I'm sure it's only because it's fitting the mannequin so well. I'm sure it's just because you're seeing it laid out perfectly (perfectly size mannequin) and only in pictures. I'm sure everything will work out! Awesome score on the shoes too!

Edit: I just noticed yours is a corset back too. It might be that it's just done up a bit tighter than you'll have it as well. I wouldn't worry too much!

Hi Ladies…

So I hate to post this but I wish there was a review like this before I ordered so I decided to share my negative experience to warn other brides.

Let me start by saying I costumed designed my dress (photoshopped what I wanted). They may be good at dresses they make every day. So please keep that in mind when you look at my negative items.

Negative Items with I had with my Gianarbridal order:

•It took them 13 weeks to make my dress instead of 5.

•I had to constantly contact them for updates past the 5 weeks. Each week being told it would be done the next.

•The dress was made 3 inches smaller around my rib cage then ordered. (Verified by my seamstress).

•Fishing line was used down the front of the dress and looked very poor in photos

•The waist of the dress was not fully attached. It was only sown on the back and right hip but the rest was just hanging off.

•I ordered a dress bag. Reassured that the groom would not be able to see the dress through the bag (I wanted to make sure it was not clear). When received it is mesh in the front of the bag and completely transparent.

•I ordered a crinoline slip. I opened it in the seamstress shop. She asked me to take it outside because it smelt like rotten fish and she did not want the rest of the dresses to smell bad.

The above issues caused me to have to start looking for a dress all over again and because it took them so long to “make” the dress I can not longer order a brand new dress. The ladies that have recently purchased their dresses look stunning so I hope I was just very unlucky with my experience. Good luck ladies.

Jo-I love your dresss! I think it will be stunning...and I like the idea of adding a few crystals for some sparkle!

I also think its nicer that the original-I love how you had straps added too!

I think most manequins are like size 2-so dont worry-i bet they have pinned the dress to fit the manequin.

Looking forward to seeing it on you :)

TheOneDay....aww so sorry!

I wish you the best of luck in finding a dress...just tell yourself maybe it was meant to be? Hopefully you will find a dress you love more.

I ordered my dress from lightinthebox.com but I ordered one of their online dresses and it was VERY well made....it also came in 2 weeks at at xmas time-so I was shocked at how fast! But I didnt get it custom sized-just ordered a size 6 and paid to get it tailored here (I assume thats why it came so fast)

Maybe you can go to Davids Bridal?

best of luck chica wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
