New and slightly overwhelmed...

Hi all,

My name is Ali and I am planning to be married in the Spring of 2010 at a destination to be determined!

We initially thought we would be married locally but soon changed our minds when looking at the costs involved and speaking with those who had spent so much time planning their special day only to find it gone within the blink of an eye. We loved the idea of having a 'family trip' of sorts with some good friends along as well. We were in Maui in October and loved it - we were thinking of doing a small wedding there with a reception locally but when we looked at the costs involved both for us and for our guests, we thought we would be better suited to doing our wedding at an all inclusive resort.

Sounds simple but there are alot of different areas to choose from. We are also wanting our wedding to be adult-only which hasn't made us very popular but we are sticking to our guns on that one. We have heard both positives and negatives to Mexico, Dominican, Costa Rica, Jamaica, etc...

I am looking forward to gaining some insight from other people's experiences and figuring some of this out through this wonderful website!!

:)

Hi Ali!

I think you made the right decision to bring your family and close friends to a DW. You get to spend a lot of time with them having fun around throughout your and their whole stay.

I am sure you will find everything you need to know in this forum. And if you don't just ask the question and we will help.

Welcome to the forum! smile29.gif

Congratulations and welcome! It really is overwhelming at first and I believe the two hardest parts of planning a destination wedding are picking the destination and resort. There is tons of really good information on this forum. I t actually took my fiance and I two months to pick a destination and we are still unsure of a resort! Good Luck and happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
