Hey Melissa,

Our weekend was great, we both loved the grounds and the architecture - it is so beautiful.

On the downside we didn't get to meet Jessica cause she had an accident and wasn't working. (We were told it was nothing serious!) But we did meet Kay for about 10 minutes.

And we were a little disappointed in the food on the resort but we have decided to go with the Brazilian restaurant, even though we didn't get to try it!

But overall we were very pleased and now we just want to get down there and get married!!

Oh I hope she's ok.

That sucks to hear about the food sad.gif We had our dinner at the brazilian and it was wonderful. I did feel a little rushed though to get out for the 2nd seating so maybe perhaps book it for the later dinner?

Hello to all the PV Brides out there!

I am happily getting married at the RIU Vallarta April 28th 2010. I've read many posts that say the WC Jessica takes a long time to get back to you, and I've found that Tristan really helps get her moving with getting back to us.

We are having our ceremony at 4pm on the beach and dinner at the Flamingo steak house. I have been to this resort Dec 08 (where we got engaged) and found the steak house to be slow. I hope this will not be the case for our wedding!

I do have a question in regards to photography if anyone out there is reading this. Threads here say that we cannot book one from off of the resort. Does anyone know if this has changed now that the RIU wedding packages no longer have photos? I don't want to spend 1,000's of dollars on photography but would like to have a few nice pictures to frame. Anyone have any ideas?

Also for any RIU brides out there, the spa that is on site, does the Jalisco and the Palace have different spas or will I have to travel to another hotel?

If anyone has gotten married at the Vallarta I would LOVE some pictures just so I can actually place everything in my head!

Thanks to all and happy shoveling to all the US/Canadians that just got hit with the storm yesterday :)

Hey Holly!

I am getting married at the RIU Vallarta December 30, and I have a private photographer. I just have to pay their day pass into the hotel. So I think it is like sixty dollars or something.

I am not sure about the spa. I looked into it, and it sounds like there are separate ones. I am bringing my hair stylist, but I have heard good things about the bride's hair somewhere along teh way on this website.

Hope this helps!

I am wondering about the steakhouse too. We booked it at 6:45 and then we rented the pool bar at 8:30 and only to 11 they will allow us. I don't want them to go over, I have heard this happening so much before. I wonder if they could book earlier, or if they just have time settings?

Also, does anyone know how there tables are arranged? Do you know how many seated per table? Has anyone just rented the second floor? One of the WC said it would be reserved just for us. That would be nice, but I don't think it works that way!

Thanks!

Hi and congrats on your wedding!!!

You'll have to tell me all about it once your back!

For weddings at the steakhouse, as far as I was told weddings happen on the 2nd floor. I also got another tip that you could have your reception there but you can't stay as late as 11pm I think. I don't want to spend the money on renting the pool bar so we are just going to have the reception right after dinner. We are renting the speakers and a mic for our speech and dancing, then once they kick us out we'll head to the disco. But again as far as I know there are only 2 seatings for the dinner, and because our wedding is at 4pm, we want to be able to take all the pictures and go for dinner right away. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help sad.gif The WC told me that she does not have to get back to me until 2 months before the wedding... After that comment I was ready to bail on the RIU altogether but unfortunately our party has already booked. Hopefully everything turns out okay for both of us!!!!

Is your photographer a friend or family member? I don't know who to book with...

Anyways, if you have never been to this resort it is very nice. We chose to get married on the beach as the gazebo is in between the adult and kid pools and we didn't want a constant flow of people walking by. (I'm sure it's going to happen on the beach too, just hope not so many of them!) We really enjoyed our stay and I hope the trend continues :)

Take care,

Holly

Hi fellow RIU brides! I am getting married in April at the RIU Palace. I do have pictures of the resort that the WC sent me. They are photos of the gazebo, beach ceremony setup and the restaurants. I don't know how to post pics on here so pm me if you would like them emailed to you.

Also, for the photographer we hired Nathan Cordova to come take pics. He is from the US but lived there for a few years so he is very familiar with the area and very affordable compared to some of the others I checked into. The WC said it would be $100 for him to be on the resort for the day.

Hope this helps!

Hello ladies!

I just got back this weekend from my wedding at the RIU Vallarta, ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe. We had such a FABULOUS time and it went beyond our expectations! For the hotel....it is beautiful, in a U shape (so everyone finds each other easily and you don't have to schedule things) steakhouse has a great view and the WC is fabulous. She can do anything you ask right up to the last minute. I just got home this morning, so I will post pics and review soon.

I was so nervous about the hotel, but don't stress! Our guests said it was the most beautiful, fun wedding they had ever been to. I loved every minute of it!

hope this helps!

Meghan

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
