Once you go onto the RIU's website you can get the costs for each space.

We had to change our wedding date to December 5 at 3pm becuase they had no availability for Nov 21. (We were advised to try and not travel on the Nov 28 weekend due to Thanksgiving!)

After lots of stress and worry we have finally settled on December 5 and it is booked and confirmed!!

I'm soooo excited!
December is great too. The weather there is perfect. Congratulations on booking a date!

Hello everyone!

Thank goodness for this site! I just joined and feel so much better about planning my wedding already! I have a wedding booked at the RIU Vallarta, but now am looking at a church ceremony and just having a reception at the Vallarta. I am debating about what to do. My only concern with the hotel, is the privacy issue. If anyone got married in the gazebo or on the beach, can you tell me your experiences? Also, any tips on what restraunt to have the reception? Thanks!

My daughter got married on the beach at the Riu Vallarta in April. It really isn't private, but that wasn't a big issue for us. There were many people who drew up beach chairs and sat outside the roped off area and watched, plus there are people in the ocean who just stood there and watched. The wedding coordinator shooed some kids away who tried to get too close. The setting was so beautiful, though, that having onlookers didn't even seem to matter. Their reception was at the Flamingo Steakhouse and, in my opinion, is the best place to have it there. We had the entire upstairs and they did a really good job taking care of us. Any other questions, ask away.

Thanks Ruth! The Wedding Coordinator at the RIU also suggested the second floor at the Flamingo Steakhouse. Did you have a dance later? I know some people rented the speakers and a bar tender. We are considering this. I have to look a little more into it. Did you see anyone get married in the gazebo?

Hi SunWorshipper! I found a couple of links for you to threads that might help you out with your planning. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32673 is the link to Celina's review from her wedding and http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21027 is my 'review' from my daughter's wedding.

Did you mean the gazebo at the Riu Vallarta or Riu Jalisco? ~Melissa~ had her wedding in the gazebo at the Jalisco. I do have some pictures that I took of a wedding in the gazebo at the Vallarta but it is not my daughters wedding. If you pm me an email address I will mail you a couple of pictures.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

I'm getting married at the Riu Vallarta, hopefully at the end of May of beginning of June 2010. I was wondering if anyone had their wedding there and regretted not paying extra for certain add-ons to their wedding, or wished they added more to it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
