$110huh.gif NO WAY!!! Okay...I just checked the old list I had and it lists $66 to $110. Do you have extra long hair? I shopped around and their prices were comparable to others in the city. Nuevo Vallarta is a 20 minute ride to downtown so once you factor in the cost of a cab (An additional $40) - it may not be worth it. There may be a salon in Bucerias that may be closer - I don't know - but a cab ride is $7 one way.

I wonder what they base the $66 price on? The day of your wedding you do not want to be riding around in the heat trying to get your hair done.

After looking at my old wedding files, I see that I sent them some pics and asked them if they could do the style and that must be where they came up with the price. My hair came to $85. They sent me a reciept/voucher for my deposit and the two free body scrubs for me and DH. I also see that I got a bit of a discount for booking on line. Ask them if they'll give you a discount for booking on line.

My hair is probably only a little longer than yours I think!

Good advice though, and the more I shop around I am seeing it is comparable. I think I might buy one of the packages, and just not use some of the stuff. Is it the same spa, or one in each hotel?

I think there is one at each hotel (Vallarta and Jalisco)

I attached the price list that was given to me for last year. They sent it to me in mid-October and our wedding was November 8th. I didn't use any of the bridal packages - I only had them do my hair. I did my own make up.

Hope this helps!

Hi Ladies,

We haven't picked a place yet but have heard many great things about the RIU resports. If you have anything you can tell me about this resport or any of the the RIU chain I would love to hear more. This is all so new to me and I am so lost as to where and where to go.

Does anyone know if Erika is still there? A few months ago when I first signed up for the Riu Vallarta wedding, she was great with responding to my questions. Now I've sent 3 emails over 4 weeks and only got one response, but it was only partially answered and it was from a girl named Jessica. I'm getting worried.

First, they booked my reception dinner at the Jalisco, even though we signed up for the Vallarta. My invites with the dinner info already went out. I realize it's not a HUGE deal that they're wrong...we'll just tell guests where to go once they get there...but it's pretty irritating.

Then, I've tried to confirm that the ceremony and the bar we rented is at the correct hotel but it's been 2 weeks with no response.

Lastly, we have some yound children (as young as 2 years old) coming to the wedding. I asked if they would be allowed in the bar or if there was an age limit. Still no answer.

I'm very worried. I know I have a couple of months still (May 22nd) but I don't like being out of the loop.

Has anyone else had these problems? Does anyone know if young kids are allowed at the pool bar?

I'm not sure if Erika is still there, but I do know that Jessica was her assistant when I was there. Did you rent the pool bar (Mezcal)? If so - don't worry - you can take kids. It is outside and the whole party, kids and adults are fine. We had one of the kids pass out on a lounge chair. It's pretty open and they put the tables aside and leave a dance floor space. The bartenders were making Shirley Temple's for the kids.

I think at one point Erika said that they werent obligated to talk to us until about details until we got there. Have you tried contacting the main RIU Wedding number? I ended up e-mailing or calling and got some help from them when I changed the time of my wedding. They confirmed that my wedding was at the RIU Vallarta and confirmed my time and package. If by chance they screwed up and have your reception dinner listed at the Jalisco - believe me when I say they will correct it when you get there. They give weddings prefferential treatment as far as dining choices and times.

I know what you mean by being frustrated. Try not to stress ~ I know - easier said than done!

Thanks Celina! It's actually pretty close to the same - maybe I am just freaking out because its expensive AND in US dollars! My poor Canadian wallet!

I haven't heard from Erika in months either. I emailed asking her what and when we needed to send her document wise, and havent heard back.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
