Official PV Riu Thread (Discussion here for Riu Vallarta, Jalisco & Pacifico Palace)

Thank you so much to everyone giving their experiences! Sometimes I feel that I've got it all figured out, just to find out I haven't thought of something else!

Did the WC have a rehearsal the day of or the night before? I remember the layout of the resort but am unsure of where I will be coming in as it is on the beach.

Speaking of WC's, my last response from Kay showed that there is a new WC Daniela there...... Anyone know where Jessica went to?

And is it the proper thing to give a money gift to the WC's? Did anyone give one to the photographer or anyone else? I'm sure our bartenders will be at their limit with our family so we plan on tipping them quite a bit. I'm still trying to figure out who much money we really need for this shindig.

It says in the Sunquest book that if you book the wedding 90 days prior you get a 10% discount on the wedding itself. Did anyone have problems with this? Did anyone have issues at the spahuh.gif

Goodness my head is racing! 7 weeks to go and I feel unprepared!!!

Thanks again ladies, much appreciated!

Holly

I brought the Ipod with us to the reception and had my cousin hook it up. Worked great.

That sucks if Jessica left. But she had been there for 3 years and I guess they have turn over too.

Pricing about the pool bar.

Hi,

I just got an e-mail from Daniela about rental of the pool bar and she told me that it is $200 + $10 per person per hour for open bar. Has anyone else ever heard this? I am hoping it is a mistake because it would increase the price by a lot! I e-mailed her back, but have not heard anything yet.

Thanks.

Holly, my friend was the MC for the night, and he ran the ipod. The wedding coordinators waited until we got to the pool bar, checked we liked everything, and then went home...

Tiffaney: that is most definitely not what we paid at the Jalisco. Of course, it's been nearly a year since then, so it could have changed...that seems extremely expensive - we had 40 people! That would have cost a fortune!

Yeah seems to me the Riu's are jacking up the prices for DW's just like the rest of the AI's. I swear they nickle and dime you for everything now! But the pool bar is worth it even if it is $10 pp IMO. But still that stinks they're raising the price.

FYI Sunquest brides,

I will never ever ever book through Sunquest again! Our wedding is 4 weeks away and I just found out our flight got cancelled because not enough of the plane seats were sold! We have been booked since Aug 09 and this crap happens now......... So they have made us take the Thursday flight which messes up everything and we don't even get a discount for it!!!!!!!

Just thought future DW brides out there should be aware and cautious of Skyservice/Sunquest. And FYI, Skyservice is going bankrupt this year so if you have a wedding booked, I would think again.

Royally angry bride,

Holly I'm so sorry that this has happened to you! We booked with Sunquest/Skyservice for my daughter's wedding and had no problems at all, but they did warn us that the date might have to change up to 21 days before departure.

Have you had to change your wedding date?

Good luck!

Hi,

I nearly booked my wedding at the Riu Palace Pacifico, and it seems that they have a new WC who is changing things around a bit. The pool bar now may come with a charge of $10 per person per hour plus the $200/hr rental fee. My TA was able to talk her back into giving it to us at the $200 price without the per person cost, but it was enough to make me switch resorts.

I am guessing you can still have a beautiful wedding here, but I would make sure to get everything in writing!

Are there any Riu Palace Pacifico brides on here? DH and I just decided that we are going back to PV for our anniversary this weekend and I think we are going to stay at the Palace Pacifico! smile123.gif If any B2B's need anything, like pictures or info on how something is set up, let me know and I can check it out for you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
