Edith's Restaurant - Review

So this isnâ€t really an official site review, just a generic review of the restaurant. It happens to be my favorite restaurant in all of Los Cabos. We dined at Edithâ€s on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 8:00pm.

Edithâ€s was just as I remembered – upbeat atmosphere, on-point wait staff, and outstanding food. I made reservations a month in advance, and Iâ€m glad I did. After being in Cabo over Christmas in 2006, we were unable to get a reservation the entire time we were in Cabo – they were booked through January! So this time, I thought ahead and made sure we would be able to get in.

The restaurant wasnâ€t too crowded when we arrived, we sat under the large palapa for the first time, closer to the kitchen. Our waiters were wonderful, always cracking a joke and very attentive. By the time we left at around 9:30PM, there was a line out the door waiting to get a table.

But the food is what keeps bringing us back year after year. Tortilla soup is always a great starter, and the shrimp bisque was decadent. But no matter what, I always order a steak at Edithâ€s. In my opinion, it blows away any other steak Iâ€ve ever had – even the prime restaurants in the US. My chipotle steak was salty & seared on the outside, and just melted on the inside. The chipotle sauce was delicious, with a soft heat that complimented the steak perfectly.

I did try a bit of the catch of the day, sea bass, which was perfectly cooked. Prepared Vera Cruz style, the sea bass was flaky and moist, not overcooked like usual. The peppers and sauce smothered the fish for a wonderful addition.

For dessert, flan. Creamy and light, Edithâ€s flan is one of the best.

Youâ€re probably wondering why Iâ€m bothering putting a review of a restaurant on this website. Edithâ€s can only accommodate groups up to 60 people, so we canâ€t use them for any of our wedding events (like the rehearsal dinner), so we have decided to take our parents, grandparents and siblings to Edithâ€s the evening before our wedding guests arrive. This will allow us to say “thanks†to our family for all of their support and let us enjoy a quiet, fabulous meal with our closest family.

My only complaint is this: Edithâ€s used to have the best view of the sunset that I have known. Unfortunately, there is a condo/hotel development going up directly across the street which seems to now block the majority of the view Edithâ€s once enjoyed. A minor annoyance at best.

But if youâ€re ever in Cabo and have never been to Edithâ€s, check it out. Itâ€s one of the most expensive, but itâ€s still my favorite. Oh, and they now offer online reservations, which is very convenient for planning in advance!

Edith's is located on Camino a Playa, just up the hill from Melia San Lucas, and up from the water from The Office. It looks like it is also caddy-corner from Bahia Condos.

The website has a map, but I'm not much more help than that!

I know it's always either the first or second street on the left when coming from the Corridor, but I can't remember if it's the same street as Lenny's Deli or not.

Jen, yes, I would absolutely suggest Edith's for a special occasion. I have seen many anniversary celebrations over the years. I think the service that you receive makes it very personal and intimate, and make sure when you make reservations that you request a more intimate table due to the anniversary.

I actually ate at Edith's once with my father (mom was not feeling well) and they put us near the wine room, and it definitely looked like we were dating, older guy with a young new girlfriend. People were staring...Gross!

I suggested it to two of my good friends while they were honeymooning at Las Ventanas (different times) and they both said they were so glad to get off the resort, that the food was out of this world and just made the honeymoon so special.

If you make reservations for later in the evening, it'll be dark, and mostly lit by candles. The entire restaurant is outdoors, like most in Cabo, and so you only get as much light as they provide! But it can be very romantic.

So make sure and let them know your special occasion and I promise you will not be disappointed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
