Mani/Pedis and Eats

Recommended Posts

So I am heading out next week for our site visit and am looking for a few recommendations from either Vegas locals or anyone who is familiar w/ the area. I am hoping to find a nail salon near the MGM Grand that is better priced than the Christope Salon for mani/pedis...I want to go get nails done /w my girls on the wedding weekend.

Also looking for a good kid friendly but not necessarily kid oriented place to have our rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal is the same day as my nephew's third birthday and I want to make it fun and special for him as well.

Thanks!

Are you willing to travel from the S. Strip?

Anyway, here are some suggestions for the dinner - you haven't mentioned if you want something more upscale for the dinner, but since specified kid-friendly, it does somewhat eliminate a lot of the nicer places.

Border Grill (Mandalay Bay, S. Strip) Welcome to Border Grill Restaurants - Upscale Mexican restaurant. Great food, fun atomosphere, casual dining, but expensive for Mexican (worth the money, though)

Rainforest Cafe in the MGM itself

Burger Bar (Mandalay Place, S. Strip) - The kids can have fun constructing their own burger from various toppings on the menu. Kind of a pub-like atomosphere, but I'd say this was still family-friendly (like a TGIFridays, for example). Good food, and great beer menu.

Any of the buffets are also obviously family-friendly.

Well, if you are willing to travel, I strongly recommended Rosemary's Restaurant Las Vegas Restaurants - Rosemary's Restaurant on Sahara. Frommers review is here: Rosemary's Restaurant | Restaurant Review | Las Vegas | Frommers.com

Probably as good or possibly better than any 5* place you can get on the strip, and reasonably priced, too. It definitely means getting in a cab, though.

I think the rainforest cafe is so fun for kids; I have a 5 year old & he loves it & I'm sure your nephew would love it too. I'm not sure what kind of a vibe you're going for, but if your looking for a quiet dinner, this probably wouldn't be the place b/c of the animal noises & the rain showers, but if you're looking for a fun environment, this would be great. I love Vegas, we have been every year since we have been together (6 years now) & I know you will find a great place to have your rehearsal dinner (there are soooooo many fantastic places to eat in vegas.)

Ok, I'm such a dingbat that I didn't even look at the date of your original post, so I see you've already had your site visit. I hope you found a great place, but maybe someone else can use this advice :)

I ended up not having time that weekend to check out places, but have a list of a few that have reviewed well or been recommended by knotties. Hair/Make up for wedding day are included in my MGM package, but I am still undecided between doing it myself w/ some practice or finding a make up artist for our photo tour the next day. ((pretty sure foxy on the Vegas forums here is a make up artist if I remember right, and she had some decent pics in her siggy link))

I booked storybook brides to do our makeup and hair in the hotel room and they are only charging 150 or 160 per person (can't remember the exact price) for both. It was the best price I found to have them come to the hotel room!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
