Is it Silly to Honeymoon @ Universal Studios?

Hey Guys

So we are getting married in St Thomas and FI wants to honeymoon on an island maybe 2 weeks after the wedding (we have a group going on an 8 day cruise for the wedding).

But I want to do Universal Studios directly after the wedding since we dock in Ft Lauderdale. I think it'd be fun to drive to Orlando after the cruise and stay in Universal Studios for 5-7 days. I just thought that since the cruise is so laid back and casually relaxing and romantic, we'd have fun going to the theme parks and Citywalk etc etc.

Do you think that since our wedding is on an island we should stick with an island honeymoon?

I think you should do whatever it is you want!!!! I love love love the beach, but after being on a cruise for a week, doing something fun like Universal would be great!!!! Also, if the whole sightseeing thing gets boring after a couple days, you could always take off to nice Florida beach and feel as though you're on an island. That's just my opinion though.... either way, I think you'll have an amazing time!

I love Universal! with that said, i'm not sure i could spend 5-7 days there... but it's a HONEYMOON! You'll need to time to just be together and relax and have FUN as a couple. so I think Universal is a great choice!

It's a great idea if it's what you and your FI would love and enjoy. My FI and I are going to pick a state we've never been to and is holding Ozzfest. We also are going to try and go to a Football or a Baseball game in the city. I know crazy ... but that's us! Enjoy Universal it's amazing!!

Definitely not silly at all, we did a week at Disneyworld for our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. Wouldn't have changed it for the world! There's something to be said for being able to act like a child for a week, especially after all the work that goes into planning a wedding. It's all about fun!

It's a good idea, however compromise, might be the order of the day. Why don't you hit the keys for a few days since they are so close to where you will dock then head up to universal? If you have enough time post wedding for a honeymoon of any length there is nothing saying, that I know of that, you have to be in one location the entire time. 2 nights in the keys, to get your land legs and have a bit of an island experience then drive up the 3th day to orlando leaving 3-4 days for being a kid again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
