ME by Melia in Cabo - Wedding Reviews?

Has anybody had their wedding here? I've heard reviews of people who have stayed here, but I've never actually read about someone holding their wedding here, and my WC just recommended it as a great place to have a party.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has any info! Thanks!

I've partied there on NYE but no wedding. I actually think an awesome place to have a reception would be out on the patio at the nightclub Passion. It is really nice and big! Of course this is if you could rent the whole club out so no randoms were at your party.

My WC told me that the reception part is totally private. It's just the ceremony part that isn't (there would be people all over on the beach). Do you have any pics from there Jess? My WC sent me some but I wasn't incredibly impressed, I think I need to see more. I wish we could go on a site visit!

I did a site visit and tasting at the ME Cabo for my wedding, but decided to go with another venue. I don't really know how to post pics on the site, so if you PM me, I can send you my photos that I took during my site visit. There happened to be a wedding while I was there on my site visit and it was not private at all. There was music blaring from the DJ by the pool and tons of people all over the beach and pool area. The reception space was much more private and the hotel seemed pretty accommodating with respect to the reception set up. The onsite WC was really nice and helpful (although it was tough to reach them and coordinate originally). The great thing too is that they will do a private area for you for an afterparty in Passions, their club/lounge, which we really liked. Ultimately, we decided against the ME because, while we would totally stay there again on vacation and it'd be great for our friends, it was not a great place for grandma, grandpa, and other such family members who would be at our wedding. Anyway, feel free to PM me for more details and pics. Good luck!

I haven't actually stayed at the ME, but when we vacationed in Cabo in July 08 we were dropped off at the resort for a scuba diving class/session...

The resort itself looked lovely, very modern and chic with lounge sofas everywhere and lots of beds poolside as well as off some balconies. The pool was fabulous, warm and very clean. It looked like a very hip resort to me, not one you'd necessarily find families at, but more so a younger, party crowd -- the Paris Hilton type crowd. They were playing loud music when we visited, and again seemed like a resort where the "beautiful people" would stay at. (The dive shop right on their beach by the way is fabulous and has some great instructors ~ very cute too!! wink.gif) Dont' know if you've been to the Standard Hotel in Hollywood or LA, but that's the kind of vibe I got from it, only beachside.

We happened to meet a couple while diving who were actually honeymooning at the ME. We later had them over for dinner at our timeshare resort on our last night in Cabo, and they told us they were a little disappointed to have chosen the ME because it was too much of a "party" resort. They said the music was loud all the time, and it was really a place for singles. They did say the rooms and resort were lovely, but again not the serene peace they were hoping for on their honeymoon.

Hope this gives you a better idea of the place! I don't doubt that's it's an enjoyable place to stay because it is absolutely beautiful, but I do think it just depends on what type of atmosphere you're looking for rolleyes.gif

Heather - the only pics I have are from NYE on facebook but they aren't that great as it is dark and there are tons of people...but based on your vintage glam theme and colors, I really think it could be a great place for your reception. Is is less expensive than the Imperial Suite?

Let me see if my friend's have better pics...I'll let you know

It's SO MUCH less expensive, which is really the only reason I'm considering it. I LOVE everything about the Imperial Suite but when I saw the difference in prices (even just the open bar costs alone are so different), it made me realize I have to consider this as an option. I just really don't want our ceremony at the ME so I don't know what to do.

Thanks for your input everyone!

When I did my site visit, I was in love with the resort, the rooms are awesome. However the beach is REALLY busy and the ceremony site is right next to the pool and wouldn't be private at all. That's the ONLY reason we decided to get married at the Sheraton. It's a beautiful resort though.

We stayed at the ME for 6 nights a few weeks ago. The hotel is beautiful, modern, and a lot of fun. However, I would NOT recommend it for a wedding. Maybe for a crazy after-party at Passion Club after the reception. Nikki Beach area by the pool is amazing, there is a DJ there and go go dancers. Definitely a fun place to come with your friends during the day. The hotel has a very "Miami" vibe to it, but probably would not be enjoyable for anyone past their 30s. And I have to agree, definitely not the place for Grandma.

The beach is pretty crowded with lots of beach vendors, of which most are drug dealers as we accidently found out once we started talking to them. eek.gif Probably not the best place for your ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
