pre~cruise accommodations?

Where are you ladies staying before the cruise? I was thinking about blocking a group of rooms but my cousins got a great deal from 1800 hotels.com on a really nice hotel and to be honest I want to do the same thing since it is a better deal than the group rates I have found at lower quality hotels. Am I being selfish wanting to ask people to go through 1 800 hotels and not blocking a group of rooms or am I being nice and saving them money?? I need some outside perspective please.

One of the inserts of our invitations was accomodations. We just listed a few hotels and let everyone know which one we were staying at. I wasnt sure if we were going to have enough people to do a block and if that would affect the price when the time comes to stay. I also said to check the website for more info and on there I included the same hotels from the invitations with a little more detail including the price. I also said to try your favorite travel site to get the best deal.

We chose to use the same hotel that we always use when traveling. We also were against the block for the same reason Cattie stated; we already have enough on our plates.

Just be careful because sometimes with the 1800 websites you get the lowest quality room. Some of my guests would have been totally fine with that, other's not so much. Just depends on their financial situation I guess! Anyway, we stayed at the Deauville Beach Resort in Miami and it was pretty nice. I organized it through the group department at the hotel, got a pretty good rate, and also was guaranteed our guests would have the nicer renovated rooms.

Well I am not doing a room because we are not actually getting married until day 3 of our cruise. However I did just get us group rates on AirTran airways which is what we always fly for the 2 hr trip to fl. My immediate family isn't very picky but some of the other's who are going are. So I only needed 10 persons for the group deal and I have that with my immediate family so it should work out fine. We will mainly be flying in the morning of as we normally do unless there is a weather concern bc then we can fly in the day before and with the group program we're using we can change the the flight itinerary once. So that'll be perfect as well. We also get 10% off the lowest published prices at the time of booking. Is anyone else doing this?

I didn't even know you could do group flight booking, that is a good idea but lots of my guests are coming from different areas and on different days so I don't think it would work out for me. I've decided to suggest if they want to use 1 800 hotels it is a good deal (hopefully the rooms aren't crummy, it is a nice hotel so even the not so nice ones may be fine) and if they want to book there they can but I'll also give a few other suggestions for hotels in the same area. Thanks for the feedback!

Ok but (please dont think I'm trying to sell you on this I just like to pass along good deals) you have the ability to fly in from any airport but you'll have to fly into one of a certain amt of airports like we're doing fll and miami. Also they give you 3 days before the event and 3 days after the event to fly in. So if ppl are coming in early or staying late it helps. IE our cruise is 11.7-11.15 but we can fly anytime from 11.4-11.18.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
