Ugh. Feeling your pain too, Kathy. FI and I have been arguing/fighting more than usual lately too. We rarely fight, but we've had a few blow outs in the last month. Im just tired of talking about the wedding, buying stuff for the wedding. Trying to work fulltime, exercise enough, eat properly, plan this stupid Buck & Doe (major source of stress right now - its Feb 28th)... the list goes on. Oh plus Im contemplating going back to school in September, so we'd lose my income - ARRR! When it rains, it pours. Weddings are stressfull - everything should get back to normal afterwards, right? You're both probably just feeling the pressure! It is pretty heavy stuff, this getting married thing.

I am so sorry you had a big blow out last night. Like the other girls have posted, it is so normal to fight before the big day. Lots of time it is stress and money does equal stress.

I am sure everything will work out just fine and you will live happily ever after!

I'm sure the stress levels are high anyways with it being just around the corner - but you both love each other and trust me, everything will work out! Good Luck sweetie!
We found a money system that works well for us. We both make around the same amount of money (within $5k), so we split the amount we put into our joint accounts. We have one joint checking for the mortgage and household bills (like utilities and taxes) and then we have a joint savings for the wedding. We each put our portion into the accounts every month. What we have leftover from our paychecks goes for whatever personal bills we have (like cell phones or car payments) and any misc. stuff we want (clothes, video games, renting a movie). This way we don't get upset if one person is frivolously buying stuff with money that's meant to pay bills. We've decided that if one of us starts making significantly more money than the other, then we'll change the amount we each put into the joint accounts by a % of total income instead of splitting it equally.

Of course, each couple has to find a system that works for them, and even with a system that works, you'll still have spats over wishing you could spend money that you don't really have or wishing you had more money to spend.

I'm sorry you guys had a fight. I hope your week gets better. :-)

Sorry to hear about your fight. I don't think guys understand sometimes that a wedding is going to cost some money.

Has he been involved in any of the planning? Does he know what money is being spent where? If they have no idea what money is going where and just hear the dollar amount it can be tough to swallow. The biggest expense is going to be the flight and hotel usually.

And yep, money can be the cause of a lot of fights.

But try to cheer up a bit... weddings can bring out the worse in people sometimes since it can cause a lot of stress regardless. All the money fights won't be brought up once you guys are headed on plane.

**hugs**

Hey girls!

Thanks for all of your support, we actually had a talk the other night and I said that I think we should both not talk about the cost of the wedding anymore since it's all pretty much a done deal now. I think we agreed to that much so it's all good.

Jpitts - Yeah, he knows how much is being spent where, he's just the kind of guy that figures weddings shouldn't cost as much as they do...which is true but unrealistic since it's a huge money-making industry lol.

Thanks again, I love you ladies!!! grouphug.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
