Hi ladies,

We are looking to book a photographer soon at PF and really love the work of Michelle Turner and Beth Lloyd. I think we pretty much have decided we will choose one or the other.

I have already been in contact with Michelle and she sent us price information, her availability, etc. She has been really great via email. However, I tried contacting Beth over a week ago via her website and haven't gotten a reply.

Anyone have any experience contacting/working with Beth? Not sure if I should try contacting her again via the website or if there is another way (dont want to be pushy!).

I really love both of their work and would like to have both of their information before we make a decision.

Thanks in advance!

Vanessa, ask Lindsay/Blaire/Montse... they should be able to help you!

Hi Vanessa!

Congrats on booking your date!

I can only speak of the interactions we've had with Michelle Turner but she's been awesome so far. We booked her about a month ago after securing our date and she was extremely quick to respond to our emails. We also love her portfolio and blog - she seems very experienced.

Michelle happened to be at the hotel shooting a wedding when we decided to book her so Lindsay was able to negotiate a great rate for us and Michelle was easy to book right away.

Perhaps Beth is on assignment somewherE? I agree with Kate's suggestion -- contact Lindsay/Blaire and see if they can get in touch with her.

I'm officially pooped out from Olympic stuff in Vancouver- olympic hangover! I'm glad to be back perusing this forum again for great ideas!

Kate thanks for updating us on the recent changes at the hotel. I met a few people over the past few days who said that PF was in the older part of town with not much to do...it gave me some doubts but I'm pretty sure we made the right decision to book!

I found that Beth was really hard to get hold of - if you want someone who gets back to you right away, she's not the one for you. I loved her work but I was really worried about her inability to respond to emails and in the end she booked someone else for the weekend I was looking at. Probably a good thing in the end! But I do love her work. Michelle is the opposite, and you'll get your photos fast. You won't need to worry that she'll have run away with your photos with Michelle!

PF is close to the Dreams, not even 2 km away. It's on a direct line into town, so even though it is a little bit more quiet it's real easy to get into the action. Don't worry! The 50 cent bus ride is like 10 minutes to all of the bars, restaurants, boutiques... if I remember correctly.

Thanks for your help Vancouver ladies!

Ives – thanks and congrats to you as well as a fellow 2011 bride!

We emailed Michelle a few weeks ago and she responded within the hour! We are leaning towards her, but just wanted to see what Beth had to offer to have something to compare. However, considering we’ll be coordinating things from afar, I think it’s very important to establish good email communication so we may not want to take the risk with Beth. I agree – I love Michelle’s blog & portfolio! Nice work negotiating a good deal with Michelle – we’ll certainly try to do the same .

Mlabbe – thanks for your feedback as well; this is very helpful! I echo your sentiments, I think I’d feel much more comfortable with someone who is really easy to get a hold of. Hope all of your planning is going well!

Ivy- how much fun was it to be in the middle of all of the Olympic action?!. So awesome!

So what Magalie said is true... 50 cent (10 min) bus ride to the action or a 5 minute $8 cab ride... which is what we usually did. Either way it is really nice to be out a ways for the peace and quiet AND UNMATCHABLE VIEWS!!!! You are right that you made a great decision.

Actually, DH and I were talking about even without PF we'd rather be closer to Mislamoya... it is so tropical and beautiful- less like vegas on the ocean! To each their own but we enjoyed Mislamoya, Boca and taking the water taxi to the little beaches including Yelapa the best! But we are not big going out people. The one bar/club we went to was Helo and really fun for one night! I recommend it, right accross from the Malecon so we walked/cooled off before going back to PF.

Hey girlies!! Well, we are back.....The wedding was amazing! And the honeymoon was great too. But I can't say enough about Playa Fiesta and the staff. I will write my review as soon as I can, but for the mean time just wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes. We had such a wonderful time. No pro pics yet, just our preview. However, our first dance is on YOUTUBE

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

And our preview is on Michelle Turners Blog. I will post more as soon as I can.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
