Hey!! So I was finally thinking I was finished my OOT bags, and then came upon a great wedding week survival kit that Bryan and I both loved, so we decided to do this last thing. However, I can not download the template. Does anyone know why? There was a post that said maybe it was because I didn't have enough posts (you need 150?) but I did download another template??!! Has anyone encountered this? I'm stressing cuz I wanted everything done by this weekend, as we were already done before this last project. HELP!!??

Realistically, why would anyone fly down for just two nights? I found that explaining why we are doing 4 nights helped guests realize that 4 nights isn't that much - so you may want to have a time line of event prepared beforehand.
Good to know - Can I ask what package you ended up with? (How many minimum rooms/offset cost of food) And yes, you make a very good point - why fly down for a short amount of time?

What we went with is not a package that they have, but something that we negotiated. If there is something that you want, talk to them! They might be able to help you.

Apparently you don't need points anymore to download attachments, so maybe there is a problem with the file / link? You could PM the file's owner, perhaps she could email it to you directly?

And thank you, btw! :)

Hi Ladies! Happy New Year! Things have been busy here - and it hasn't been wedding stuff.

I've been catching up on the posts:

Crystal - you do look gorgeous in your dress, let us know what you decide on. Can you believe it's almost Feb!!

Mel - you'll have to post pics of your vacation - did you see any weddings while you were there? what was the weather like? Were the flights expensive that time of year?

Magalie - love the STD they turned out fantastic- what a nightmare with Kinkos though.

Christa, Kodi, Sara - how are your wedding plans going?

Kate - can you believe its been almost a year since you've been married

Kristine - welcome to group - there's lots of info here! When are you planning on getting married?

We do have people questioning the 4 day - in fact we have people questioning flying to Mexico too and just about everything! I've been so worried about other people (wants, schedules and budget, etc) that I'm forgetting what is best for us. We're going to have a call with Adam and hopefully confirm. I just want to get to the fun stuff already! LOL!

Well I hope everyone is doing well! Love hearing your wedding stories!

I would prepare a list of questions and things that you would like prior to the phone call, as otherwise I found that it was easy to get off track. Obviously they run a business, and so they also try to look out for their best interest. We asked him about packages, package modifications (to fit our needs), food (Travis is a chef and we want our own menu), dates and payment methods. Do go over this with him! We payed by CC and then regretted it as there was a 5.5% charge. Basically there are charges for any payment method it seems, but I think a bank transfer costs less? We also had a follow-up phone discussion regarding the contract. Again, we wanted to negotiate some points and clarify certain things - at times things are very vague or the complete opposite, but when you talk to Adam they don't necessarily care that much about everything, so we wanted the contract to reflect that. Take notes during the meeting, so you can refer to it later (things can change, we've seen it happen).

Good luck!

Magalie, I just started reading your blog, and I'm hooked! I'm going to read more when I have time. I can't believe you are going to travel for two years!!! I am so jealous.

Shreets, funny enough, I didn't take that many pictures at PF this time around. I have about 900 amazing professional pics of the resort, so most of the pics we took were in town. There wasn't a wedding going on while I was there because it was Christmas. The weather was unbelievable- I've only been to Mexico between the months of April and May, and I have to say that the winter is fantastic!!! The lows were in the 60's and the highs were in the 80's. Our flights were about $600, but we heard of other guests traveling from different areas for about $400- an awesome price for holiday travel to Mexico.

Hi Ladies,

Magalie - that's interesting about the 5.5% charge. We had a call with Adam today......and we have most of our questions answered. But, like you said, things can change. Well they did....Blaire had given us a quote on room prices - when I talked to Adam today he said that what she told us was incorrect and in fact it is a 100 dollars more per person. Ughhh..just as I had pretty much convinced everyone - I have to tell them to add on another 100$ per person. So we don't know what we're going to do. By the way - that is very fun about Travis being a Chef - what are you guys planning for food!?

Kristine, I completely agree - I love the idea of a playa fiesta wedding - I just don't want it to be too expensive for everyone - especially since we'll have a ton of people flying in from London.... Have you seen any other places that you like? May '11 will come fast - I can't believe its already 2010!!!

Mel - we'd love to see pics from your vacation! 400-600 aren't bad at all. I really like the bing travel site too - I set travel alerts for everything!

Happy New Year ladies! I've been busy for the holidays and just caught up on the thread.

Mel - Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great trip. It must have been nice to be at PF without stressing about the wedding details.

Magalie - I LOVE your STDs. The envelopes are the kicker for me. Nice work! Also, your blog is hilarious. I love your story!

Shreets - How frustrating to be quoted the wrong price. But at least you found out now. It is unfortunate to have to explain to your guests they will be paying a little more. They will realize it's worth it once they are at PF.

Crystal - Your day is coming up soon! How are the last minute preparations going?

I too was a little shocked by the 5.5% CC fee for the deposit. I don't know if I was confused or not paying attention, but I didn't remember that being discussed before I paid. However, once I realized that the fee on the wire transfer (which is much bigger) was only going to be $37 and that all of our guests would have the 5.5% fee waived, I felt better. Also, we had 2 guests pay cash for their rooms and they waived the 2.5% fee they normally charge. So that was nice.

As far as the 4-day minimum, we actually had a 5-day and some people were not exactly happy about that. The majority of our guests were fine with it. But we actually had 3 guests come down for only 2 days! They stayed at different hotels, but I was shocked that they would make it for such a short time. Especially since one was coming from New Jersey! For the other guests that could only come for 3-4 days, we picked up the extra nights.

Glad to see everyone's planning is coming along. Can't wait to see how everything turns out for you ladies. Dont' forget to post pictures along the way!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
