Moisturizing cream?

I recently went to the dermatologist b/c I suddenly got extremely dry skin. She told me not to use lotion b/c at this high altitude it just evaporates. Um ok? So I need a good recommendation for a cream. I use all organics but for this I'll use something else if it's good. What do you use that really moisturizes.

I was never a big avon user atleast for makeup products.

With the wedding coming, they had some really cute things for my BM, so my cousin sells avon, so she tossed in a bunch of samples. Well this moisturizer was one of them.

I swear I will never use another moisturizer in my life aslong as this one still works. Before I started using this, I had random dry spots on my face, no idea why. I did change when I put my moisturizer on also. I make sure I put it on once when I get out of the shower and finish toweling off then again reapply before I do my makeup. It's not real thick, not greasey at all. I love it!

Shouldn't your dermatologist have given you some recommendations? She/he would probably be the best source of info for that. Just a thought.

i use nivea cream (the kind in the blue tin) religiously in the winter. for summer i switch it up to a lighter version of nivea.

its greasy but i've got really dry skin too, so it absorbs most of it within a few minutes and i can put powder on top after that (i dont use foundation.)

my german grama used to always bring back these super huge tins of it whenever she used to go home to visit, but the last 10 yrs at least i have been able to get it at places like target or walgreens. its a great price too!

Let me preface this by saying I am a moisturizer/creams obsessed person who has spent way too much money blush2.gif finding the best product to keep my face nice and soft, especially during this horridly dry winter season....

That being said here are my suggestions:

1) Philosophy's "Hope in a Jar": If you're willing to invest a little this is a great moisturizer/cream. I started using this back in November and was surprised about how it actually kept my face feeling moisturized even several hours later. Love this stuff, but it is a little pricey, about $38 for a regular sized jar but it does last FOREVA wink.gif I think Sephora also offers a small sample size jar for $15.

2) Garnier creams/products: For less of an investment these are really great (the lime green jars you see at drugstores like Target/Walmart). To change things up from "Hope in a Jar" I recently started using the Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream for some heavier moisturizing, plus I swear my high stress level has suddenly developed a small wrinkle in between my brows BangHead.gif don't know if it's anti-wrinkle magic works yet, but this stuff has also kept my skin feeling soft and hydrated many hours later. rolleyes.gif Usually about $12 to $13.

3) Alba creams and moisturizers: Another great line of creams -- I've tried the one in a pearlized green jar, I believe it's a seaweed line and the one in their tropic line which is in an orangy jar with an olive green cap. I LOVE the way these creams smell and apparently they're comprised of very natural elements. This is good, good stuff cheesy.gif Usually about $16 to $18.

4) Ponds: If you're on a limited budget Ponds is the way to go. I have the heavy cream that has a blue cap. I just bought this a couple weeks ago off of someone's suggestion (if you haven't noticed, I like to mix things up). It does keep your face feeling soft but not as well as those mentioned above. Also, I'm not too fond of the smell because it makes me sad sad.gif -- reminds me of my Grandma, may she rest in peace, she did have beautiful and wonderful skin though! wink.gif Good buy at $5.

5) Vaseline: Haven't tried this yet, but I've heard that a quick fix to super dry skin/patches is good ol Vaseline. It does make sense considering the stuff is so dense and slick, but because it does have an oily consistency, I would definitely just apply in thin dabs to avoid breakouts. Super cheap stuff $2 to $3 sometimes even less!

Hope this helps....I have wasted money on tons of others, but these are the best of the bunch!!! Good Lord, I just realized I have a serious addiction to facial creams S&M.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
