We are Canadians, anyone else have to get an Apostilles to marry in Cancun? HELP

Recommended Posts

Anyone wanting to marry in mexcio needs to have the Apostilles Creed. It makes bringing the documents to your country easier. Some people find that their wedding is not legal in their counrty. This supposedly makes the transition easy.

It is $500 though which I think is a great way for them to make more money since destination weddings are so popular. sad.gif

As lolo said, an apostille is a stamp on your Mexican marriage certificate that certifies you are legally married. When you bring back the marriage certificate to Canada, it is considered a legal document that you may use to change your last name with (if you wish to do so) as well as other things, such as a driver's license, etc. Some resorts include the apostil charge in their wedding package fees, for instance, the Iberostar includes the apostil charge in their pricing. I hope this helps!

Hi, I just want to thank for the information, we have finally got all this legal stuff under control I hope. We made the mistake of talking to to many consulates and they all had conflicting information for us. My daughters fiance is from Manitoba and we are from Alberta so the provinces all require different documents, but in actality all they need to do is get copies of their long birth cert and have them notarized and then send them to the mexican consulate in Calgary and have them translated. So hopefully we have it under control. Hope this helps others. And thanks again to all of you for the help, we needed it lol....everyone take care and hope you all have the weddings of your dreams.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
