OOT Bag Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I need a little advice.

I was planning on putting together about 45-50 bags to give to our guests, TA, family and special friends not able to go. I currently have 28 rooms but at last count I needed 36 bags for just the guests going. We were going to do 1 bag per room for couples/families and give 1 bag to each single (in some rooms there are two or three).

Here is my dilemma. We were just asked by one of my cousins if she could invite about 15 of her friends. They usually do a long girl's weekend once a year in June and she wanted to combine this with our wedding (She was already bringing two of them so I had planned on giving each girl a bag). I don't know any of them but we want to make sure and get our unlimited private events so we want them to book with our group.

What would you do in this situation? Do you try and give each single a bag or at least something or not??

I can't wait to share my bags and stuff with the forum because I think they are going to be great. We are doing a waterproof tote with our full color logo professionally put on, we have personalized koozies and mugs going into them with a whole bunch of other things that we are also going to put our logo on. Each bag with all the stuff is costing right at $20.00.

Personally, if I didn't know them, I just wouldn't give any of them a bag, just your cousin. Not even the 2 you were originally planning on. I think you either have to give them each one, or none of them, and with already doing that many bags, and them not being people you invited i would just give a bag to your cousin, maybe before you go or something, just not in front of all of them

I would only give bags to people that are attending your wedding. But, if they are saving you money or getting you additional concessions by helping with your bookings, it might be a nice gesture to give them bags, too, if possible. If not, I'd just limit bags to the wedding guests.

Thanks for your opinions!! I had been fretting a little bit about this and decided to ask for help. This forum is GREAT!!

Currently, we are qualifying for enough nights for the unlimited free events without them but due to the economy, the numbers started changing a bit last week. It would be nice to have them in the group just in case.

I actually had one other thing come up today. We are getting married in Cancun at Moon Palace. We have friends with a vacation home on Isla Mujeres, an island off of Cancun. I found out today that several of our friends are staying over there and coming in for the wedding. They have to pay $84.00 a person to get into the resort.

What are you doing for people that do this at your wedding?

We are having koozies and travel mugs personalized for for our OOT bags so I was thinking I would just give them one or both of these for coming in for the day so they can use them with the rest of the wedding guests. Thoughts??

That's the dilemma we are actually encountering as well. From what I have been advised by my family and friends. They say, we shouldn't be obligated to pay for the outside guest fee. Only because we are already setting up, by reserving accomodations at the resort we choose. But, my FI thinks other wise. He thinks that our guests are already paying alot of money to come out to the wedding, so we shouldn't smack on another obligated fee for them. So.. right now, we're just trying to see what we can negotiate.

As far as the OOT gifts for them. Either one would be good. if you do plan on giving them something. Just so they don't feel left out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
