Thanks Kitten heart - annoucnements are a great idea since I do not have a date to save yet for the US reception!

I have called 2 travel agents now who think that it is to early to start looking at rooms to book. weird!

Hey - is anyone using a website to give guests more informatioon? If so - what website are you usinghuh.gif

Thanks and happy planning!

Amy

Hello 2010 Brides (and a groom or two!)

I am getting married June 11, 2010 at the Royal Playa del Carmen. I have confirmed my date with the resort and sent my STD's but have been sitting on my butt since then. I guess I feel like there is nothing I need to do right now.

What is everyone else working on this far ahead?

I have been in contact with Gaby at Dreams Cancun and she has tentatively reserved our date for June 11, 2010. I chose dreams b/c of the many positive reviews on this forum, and also b/c it is very reasonably priced for my guests. It also has an excellent location (for guests who like to party). Good luck planning!
Dude! I finally have a date Twin! lol. Ok I was a little too excited about that. blush2.gif

Hi Amy,

I like theknot.com for my wedding website. I'm going to have all my guests RSVP right on the website, so it's easier for both parties and more environmentally friendly (and potentially cheaper, although there is an anual cost to have the site). I like the format and their backgrounds the best so far. Another one that is good is ewedding.com but if you want the option to be able to RSVP on the site, it's about $90/year as opposed to theknot.com which is $60/year. ewedding has a two week trial period and it's free if you want the very basic of options.

Hope that helps! Let me know what you think,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer (Bride-Chill-a), nice to see another Vancouver-ite on the forum! Too bad I moved from Vancouver for the year, would have been nice to sit down with someone local who is planning at the same time as me.

Good luck though and enjoy the beautiful weather you are having right now, I am a little envious!

Hi ladies! Hopefully we can all support each other this year. I can totally relate to people wanting prices etc etc. Here is what is going on with me.... We are getting married on Isla Mujeres. Its a small island right off of cancun just a 15 min ferry ride from Puerto Juarez. I ran into the same problem with hotels as you all did. We are staying at Cabanas Maria del Mar. It isnt the highest scale hotel but its the best priced and its located in the best spot on the island... right on North Beach. I've read reviews of other brides that have chosen this hotel and they described it as a wonderful experience and a very family feel to the hotel. Anyways, the hotel rates were not posted so I ended up negotiating 2009 prices as our group rate. If you havent selected a hotel or location, seriously look into Isla Mujeres. Its so close to Cancun so its very easy to experience the wonders of Cancun but at the same time the island isnt as touristy. The people are so laid back and they dont tell you to buy buy buy and come into their store as you are walking by. good luck to you all!

Hey everyone,

We are working with my stepmom who is a cheapcarribean expert as well as Auroria at the Dreams Tulum Resort to come up with a date for our wedding that is both free for our wedding and has enough room for our guests. Its a bit frustrating because we are now 10 months out and I am feeling a bit stressed with this not falling into place as fast as I would like it to. Have you had better experience with a travel agent or dealing with the resort yourself?

You're welcome!

Really? Too early? I already booked my room and should be getting quoted for our flights in 3 weeks... my guests are already gettting quotes and the prices have been fabulous! Cheaper than I expected actually.

I actually sent out my Save the Dates with my website link (and my phone number on them) as my primary form of RSVPing. I put a ton of information on there and I have gotten many compliments on it (I spent way to long creating it) but I love how easy it is to use and create. I am using Wedding Planning Guide and Free Wedding Websites - mywedding.com... if you would like to see it, just PM me.

My name is Amy too btw! :)

I am about at the same point as you, booked my date, sent out my save the dates, created a wedding website, encouraging guests to get quoted and book early due to the amazing pricing right now. I also have booked my photographer, getting an engagement shoot in two weeks, I am getting from all my guests what their food choice is, also I'm hardcore dress scouting and trying to brave up the actual act of walking into a store and trying them on.

I will be working to create my invites soon with (DIY) like my STD's. Oh and I bought a room block as well from my TA.

That's about it so far!

I feel comforted with what you are saying. I'm going to trust that it will all work out and whoever can afford to come, will come! I think the biggest thing for me is that we get the 'wedding' that we want, so we need to just go with it.

That's great that you have been to your resort many times before...makes deciding easier! We have only been to one resort (H10 Ocean Coral) in the Mayan but we know we don't want to have our wedding there, one reason is because of location. So, it's a bit unnerving booking something where we have never been. The Riu Yucatan seems like a safer bet, as many of our guests have stayed there and liked it, but they dont seem to cater to weddings as much as Sandos Playacar. I just want everyone to be happy. Sigh.

Thanks again for your reply! Let's be in touch with our planning, etc! Have you sent out your invitations?

Jennifer
I'll send you a personal message (PM)!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
